Tea with milk is disgusting.... Plus it reminds me of years of servitude as a child, constantly making cups of the stuff for my parents. I can't even get away from tea now, part of my job is analyzing the UK tea market. Gah!

I can just about do jasmine and green tea these days, normally with some heinously chillified Asian foodstuff. But it's just bland!

But, going back to the OP. I like my tea done Japanese style. Not the ceremony an all, but I rather like the tea to be prepared in front of me. I don't know, the tea that comes in bag, although affordable and what not, kind of takes away from the original flavour of the tea.

I like regular tea, fruit tea, green tea, and for bedtime, Camomile tea. :)

All prepared personally - I like making my own tea, but I also enjoy making tea for others. The only other person I let prepare tea for me at the moment is my mother, but I plan to ask my girl to make some tea for me some time, because I am interested in her technique. :)

I drink alternating between bags and leaves. With bags, Yorkshire and PGtips are fine, Twinings are ok (not tried that many), I've tried TeaDirect but found it a bit weak.

With leaves, my current lot include peppermint, oolong, some Indian thing that's very cinnamony, and one with the incredible name "5 o'clock" (woe betide anyone who goes against this commandment). Also do Earl Grey occasionally, but it's not my favourite. I'll have green tea in a Japanese or Chinese restaurant and it goes well with the food, but I wouldn't choose to have it outside.

I drink whatever generic tea we have around for the caffeine fix: a splash of milk, and no sugar.

For greater enjoyment, it's looseleaf green tea at the moment, although I'm looking into picking up some more oolong at some point. Both without milk, naturally.

I asked my wife last night if she was interested in teabagging.

But she pointed out that I don't like it. I much prefer loose-leaf Chinese tea. And she was right.

So then I asked her if she'd make me happy with her mouth. And she did.

I love it when she blows a raspberry on my belly button.

Typical American response, maybe if you didn't chuck it in the harbour before drinking it, it wouldn't be so bad, not to mention no sugar.

As for me I rarely drink tea, maybe when having afternoon tea (that is with scones and jam and cream, cucumber sandwiches and other pastries etc) but that happens very rarely. When I drink that it depends what I or the person I am visiting has in the house.

I also drink tea when having lunch at a Chinese Restaurant.

Unfortunately, most Americans limit their tea experience to Liptons's, Tetley's or whatever is cheapest. That's probably why most Americans prefer coffee. I discovered English (Twinings) tea years ago and, more recently, some very expensive American teas (Mighty Leaf) that cater to a more discriminating group. I don't buy them often (15 bags for $9.00!), but they are lovely.

There are probably less Meijer's there now than when you lived there as Walmart and Meijer are in an epic battle for Michigan's retail. Of course, I shop at Meijer's because they're based in Grand Rapids and Walmart is... well... Walmart.

So the Meijer's have been closing? That's a pity. Of course, I lived there around 5 years to 6 years ago. A lot of local stores were closing when I was about to leave. I always sponsor province (state) based businesses. And honestly, Walmart has such a monopoly. *sighs* Ah well. I guess the corporate world is that cruel.

Yeah, but the good thing is Summer is on the way, I have my board shorts out, I have my thongs out (flip flops for people who may have been thinking something else) and I have my pulled the clothes I wear when wondering down by the bay out (shorts and summer t-shirts) I even went shopping a couple weekends ago for it, even got my self a nice new pinkish shirt to wear down at the Bay as well. Just need to buy some new sunnies.

Why didn't you mention Peru? Are you heading there for a holiday or something? Or is that where your grandmother is currently living?

Lucky. I have to wear warm clothes now while you can go on out in shorts and enjoy the beach. Lucky! <.<

Nah, the reason I mentioned Peru is because I had a good friend from there while I was in university and she was from Peru and always used to express longing while winter was here. She always reminded us that while it was fecking cold where I am, she's enjoying Summer in her country. That's why I mentioned Peru.

My grandmother, on the other hand, leaves in eternal paradise. She's in Puerto Rico, in the Caribbean. Summer there is eternal.

Beautiful, the beach all day with a warm sea to frolick and swim in and paradise all around.

Much nicer than the UK, where it is chilly all year round, and it rains a lot. But I like the cold and the rain, so it's cool. :D

If you like iced sweet teas you might like mine then...

Nah, too sweet for me, though I've only had it very rarely. And I expect I wouldn't drink it on the same occasions as I would normal tea. Seems more of a treat than a staple drink.

Some did, but Meijer's changed a number of their practices so it seems to have stabilized, at least the last time I was in Michigan. I did notice that when the new Walmart opened in my town there is a large and conspicuously placed Michigan flag and they have signs pointing out Michigan-made products so it seems Walmart is attempting to tap into that economic patriotism that has helped Meijer's.

Having done research on Wal-mart, they do indeed rely on Consumer ethno-centrism a lot to sell their products, and they have been caught out selling goods with Made in the USA stickers on them that was actually made in China. But yes they do rely on that a lot despite around 90% of their products being imported from China.

I love mojitos though unfortunately I can only get them from dedicated cocktail bars nobody else seems to keep fresh mint on hand, so I normally have to go without.

(but not every day for ANY same one thing, and not just tea)

Yeah, my grandma thought that marking Michigan-made products was a great idea until she went to the new Wal-Mart and saw that only a small handful of products were marked as such. She doesn't shop there anymore.

It's terrible the way they do things, I am not a big fan of Wal-mart and I hope they never come to Australia (I susect they would fail here the same way they did in Germany anyway), but yeah good on your grandmother for seeing the truth.
