On November 4th, the citizens of the state of Illinois will have the chance to vote on whether to hold a constitutional convention to revise our state constitution.
Whats everyone's feelings on this? I personally am torn on both ends. On one hand, having a recall provision in our Constitution would be great, because after Ryan and then 8 years of Rod Blagojevich, a recall provision would be fantastic.
On the other hand, my mom was telling me that the Teachers Unions are freaking the fuck out, because they feel their constitutionally garunteed pensions are at stake if there is a revision. And I personally could see them removing it, because out state spends so much money, I can see them cutting corners and ripping some people off out of their pensions just to fund some of their other projects.
In the end, I think Ill be voting against it. Im worried about the teachers losing their pensions.
Whats everyone else here in the state of IL think?

Illinois sucks.
That out of the way, a recall provision would be good. I certainly wish there was some sort of a generalized recall ability in Michigan.
Well, I would vote against it, considering it would cost way too much money, and there doesn't need to be any changes, IMO.
But then again, i can't vote this year, now. -mumbles about damn mail system-

we vote on the same thing in Hawaii.
the main argument against it? it will cost too much.
yet why not talk about it. why not explore if any changes are needed.
sure alot of bad things can happen, yet alot of good things can also happen as well.

Connecticut also has the opportunity to vote on a State Constitutional Convention. While I'd like to see term limits for state legislators (so CT could finally be rid of people like Blumenthal and Lawlor), there's too much chance of something I'm really interested in, getting messed up in the process.

Rule #1: No one cares about Illinois.:D
I'm not exactly well versed in the finer points of how one would go about amending the state constitution of Illinois, but I dare say that a constitutional convention won't directly change anything.

Teachers unions freak the fuck out about everything. The last thing I'd worry about is public servants losing their pensions: That's just not going to happen.
