100% Pure Refined Crazy

the obama candidacy seems to be having some interesting effects on the lesser 'intellectuals' of the republican persuasion. jon swift did a really good roundup of the paranoid delusions that have been playing out on the right in his Great Moments in Election-Year Blogging (http://jonswift.blogspot.com/2008/10/great-moments-in-election-year-blogging.html). that is totally worth a read for bringing all the crazy together under one roof (also, whoever is behind that blog is fucking hilarious).

but now i realize that that fails to do the right justice. just go read this (http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2008/10/how-could-stanl.html). we have reached time cube levels here, people. i don't want to spoil the surprise too much, but it turns out that obama was actually born in kenya...to malcolm x and bill ayers! which makes him totally ineligible to be president!

so what the hell is going on? this all seems crazier than even the craziest clinton era delusions. and how will this all play out during obama's presidency? will the nominally mainstream right again take up the cause of excusing the domestic terrorism committed by the even farther right?

At the risk of my life, I must issue a GRAVE WARNING to my fellow Americans - about a
potential Civil War between millions if Obama,
the Black candidate, is elected President of the
United States, displacing the white president -
inducing America to become a Black Nation.

That's the fault of the producers for news programs, who are so enthralled with new media that they can't wait to eat whatever shit they find in the great internet sewer.

In the last few months of the election especially I can't count the number of times I've cursed whoever thought even so much as putting a comment function on websites was a good idea. Depends on the craziness. Your typical moon-landing denier, holocaust defender, or scientologist will probably be at about 1 centi-TimeCube, while someone who goes the whole hog and believes in reptiloids, 9/11 as a hoax, the Illuminati, etc, will be around 1 deci-TimeCube.

That's how crazy it is.

well, i can't argue with that

but i do seriously worry that these people are working themselves up into some shooting sprees and bombings like they did in the 90's. granted, these figures won't commit anything themselves, but they are mainstreaming and normalizing the rhetoric of those that will.

Defeat? What are you on about? They didn't defeat that ideology sixty years ago, they adopted it and just happened to be more clever in disguising it.
