Not really, he's great at acting funny, but not good at stand up. I really don't understand why the Americans like him so much, of all the wonderful British comedians, they had to choose him.

Sorry havn't check on this post in ages, but i have to disagree Gervais is THE best British comedian ever to have graced the earth, now i can safely say this, becuase as a Brit thats quite keen on comedy and all things funny, he has succsesfully made films, tv shows, books and has even conquered the medium of radio, he also more or less started the whole podcast revolution

I liked his "Animals", but that's about it...

Nothing like upping a 10 week old thread

he has succsesfully made films

Wrong. Starring /= "making"

tv shows

Right

books

Wrong. He rushed out a couple of stupid, cheap books that were bought largely as Christmas presents and were presumably returned en masse

and has even conquered the medium of radio

Wrong. He had a show where he had a chat with a couple of mates. If Julius Ceasar had done that kind of conquering then his friends would have ended up casually stabbed him in the front.

he also more or less started the whole podcast revolution

Wrong. Don't really need to explain.

20% isn't too bad. You can get a C in GCSE Maths with that

He's a bit shit. The Office and Extras were good, but his stand-up is sub-par and he's a bit of a tit in real-life by some accounts.

don't know no RICKEY gervais, but i thought gervais the lizard wizzard in one of julia eclar's fantasy books about 'companions' (sentient 'horses') was pretty cool.

Spelt RICKY Gervais, the radio shows were great as they were not only funny but you got to know Gervais in a weird sort of way, because he it was only him chatting it was a warm freindly radio show, and the podcast thing was around before him but was not well known, when he started thats when the public sat up and took notice of podcasts.

And i got a B in gcse maths :P

well the only pawed casts i've noticed, not having a paw'd, was something called santiago's dream. as far as i know, the human in question was never broadcasts anyplace where i've lived, which it sounds like, i seem to have missed out on.

most talk radio seems to be brainwashing so i'm kind of selective about my preference in it, which none seems to be where i live, other then some of the pacifica things and on my local community noncommercial indipendent little station up in the hills near where i used to live, in the next county over, and not too far to pick up, from where i live now, which is near the left coast of north america.
