Hey guys,
Just here to give a quick survey to see how many people own City-Builder games. If you have any comments, feel free to post them below.
I have Sim City 4, I regret it, more headaches than fun. Haven't played it in a while...

Yea, well. That's to be expected right off the bat. Usually it takes a while to understand the concepts and balance everything. Try some addons from www.simtropolis.com They help.

They really should make a Castle Builder game, and then allow us to play online where we can raid our friend's castle and people can raid our castle.

all the Sim Cities since the original Sim City (on SNES for me). plus others like City Life and Sim City Socieites (same game really), as well as Sim Copter and Streets of Sim City.
i love the Sim City series, and i hate - really hate - what the last two city buider games did... placing individual buildings in a detailed but tiny city is not what i want, nor is micromanagement. but then i'm the kind who enjoys the campaign map more than the battles in Total War...
ps: Wilgrove, Stronghold 2 was a pretty good castle builder in sandbox mode

I play MyMiniCity, but that's a browser-based game, so I don't really own it.

CivCity Rome, and Caesar 3, and, depending on your interpretation of city building, Black and White 2.

No, because I was planning on writing up some software/addon that will allow people to use a City Builder like an MMO and cooperate with eachother. The only reason I needed to knowe about the game was to decide which game to do.
I say buy Civilization IV though. Much better in my opinion, becuase I have no patience. :p
And very cool on making your own game.

Awesome! :D
I own... Sim City 4, Black and White, Caesar I, II, III, Stronghold 1 2, Legends, and I'm not sure if civilization counts but if it does... all of those too....

Thanks. It's more of an addon software though. It's gonna be free, I can assure you, lol.

All the Sim Cities, going back to the very first one that was included in a software bundle with my very first PC. I don't find them fun unless I can cheat. I like the city planning aspect, not the budget balancing aspect. My real checkbook is no fun to balance; why would a virtual one be?

The timing of this thread is almost creepy, since I started playing SimCity 4 again just two days ago.
I have SimCity, SimCity 2000: Special Edition, SimCity 3000: Unlimited, and SimCity 4: Deluxe Edition. I love all of them. SC4 does have a steep learning curve, but if you stick with it, you can build awesome cities without having to download third-party addons. However, if you have vanilla SC4, get the Rush Hour expansion pack; I cannot stress this enough, as it makes the game much better.
The theme from SimCity 2000 is stuck in my head now.
Shoot, all the Sim Cities and all of the Sierra Empire-Building series.

same here. well, SC2k and SC3 were still fun to manage that part, but SC4 became so anal it stopped being fun and i just cheated like hell.

I have Rome: Total War and Medieval 2: Total War... Those both have a city building aspect to them, but they're primarily strategy games.

City building games are games where you build and manage a city.

I won and play SimCity 2000, have a couple of cities on the go atm.
I also have played Caesar 3 and 4, Caesar 4 was pretty crap and fairly easy I finished it within two days and returned it to the store. Caesar 3 proved more of a challenge (or maybe it's because I was younger).
While it is technically not a city I do have SimTower and when that becomes large with over 100 levels (that's 100 plus the underground levels) that turns into a mini-city.

I used to have simcity societies... I played it for about an hour and then uninstalled it because it would lag and freeze too often.

I have Sim City 4, Stronghold: Crusader, Civ 3, Black and White 2 and Every Total War game (If those count).
I like city and nation management games, which isn't too suprising I guess. I've got:
* SimCity 4 + Expansions
* SimCity 3000 (uninstalled)
* Civ II (Thinking about getting Civ III, not interested in IV)
* Children of the Nile + Customisations

Caesar 3, and I suck at it.
I also have Majesty plus Northern Expansion as well as Dungeon Keeper 2. Those I don't suck at. As much.
