Rather. Is it just me, or does there seem to be a trend of brilliant and innovative people producing beneficial research for all, but getting the figurative shaft in the last century or so?

That does suck. Royally. If I were one of the Nobel winners, I'd feel too guilty not to give him a cut of my share.

Indeed. And you really have to respect the dedication of that man to science, being willing to make sure that if he couldn't finish the research, somebody could. All the people that might be helped by this research really owe him a debt of gratitude.

he didnt take his original grant money to Vegas and put it all on red. He could have doubled his research money easily that way.
