Chair Mishaps

South African MP's chair accident (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/7685540.stm)

While laughing at this, I was reminded of a personal experience in school when I was answering a question, and the back legs of my chair slowly bent (they were already bent when I sat down) further and further, so I sedately disappeared out of sight while trying to get my french verb endings correct.

In a cunning way to disguise a thread made solely to post an amusing video, have the denizens of NSG ever had any chair/other furniture/etc mishaps, how have they affected your life and so on and so forth.

ROFL

I used to always swing on my chair when I was a kid at school never did any serious damage to myself or the chair, some of the plastic ones had stress marks in them but that was alright.

However, my current chair at my desk I have had some mishaps, I was swinging on one leg (it is a five leg wheeled chair all legs coming from a central point) and that broke with me stumbling to the ground. The next leg broke off when I was dancing, I had some dance music going I was in a good mood I jumped on one of the legs which broke off. The third leg broke off when well I won't tell you what I was doing, PG-13 rating and all that but needless to say their was two people on the chair and a lot of movement up and down when it broke.

A couple of times at school I sat down when there wasn't a chair even near me. Worse, on one of these occasions I realised when I was halfway down, tried to stand up again, but was off balance and ended up falling backwards with my feet going up in the air as if I'd slipped on a comedy banana skin.

We'd always bend the back legs straight on the chairs at school to get the perfect lean. It just took a little push with your toe and the chair would recline oh so nice. And then the teacher would yell at you and sometimes you'd nail it and land back on all four legs, and sometimes not...

In college me and some of my friends stacked 40 chairs into a pyramid and left a sign on it that said "Art Project, DO NOT TOUCH" it was left alone for about 2 months.

Amusing Chair stories? I was sitting in one of those old metal chairs with 2 legs that make a base at the bottom when the legs buckled and folded inward. One second I am talking about the weather, the next second I am in a sitting position staring at the ceiling.

No sitting incidents here. But one chair-related story.

One of my friends once dumped her boyfriend in a school hall full of stacked chairs. He then attempted to pick one up to throw at her in a pique of rage, but he couldn't prise the top one off, and ended up pulling down an entire stack of chairs onto himself. They were only plastic so he didn't really get hurt, but it did little to soothe his rage.

kinda sad...you'd think engineers could, you know, engineer a way to tear 'em down.

or maybe because his paramour (supposing that he wasnt alone) found out what a cheapskate he was--too cheap to buy a new chair after breaking 2 legs of it!

That would even embarrass me.

I don't own any chairs that are easily breakable. :(
No mishaps for me.

I was once sitting on an 8' folding ladder, rocking back and forth, when the ladder spontaneously folded up on me.
