A hypothetical scenario...

Vampire Knight Zero

First off, I want to apologise for being such a moron. My spamming over the past few weeks was stupid and annoyed a lot of people. It's time for me to get semi-serious. :p

(But not quite. ;) )

So, a scenario for you - a Vampire of the opposite sex approaches you, offering you to join them in eternal life as a creature of the night. Would you say yes? Or would you say no? Perhaps you would even try to kill them?

I open the floor to madness.
Knights of Liberty

Well, what kind of vampire?

The Dracula kind (ie the cool, original kind)? Or the stupid, newer vampires that are the good guys and dont have any of the vampires weaknesses OR powers?

If its the Dracula kind, fuck yes make me one. Calling storms? Turning into fog, wolves, and bats? Having any woman go crazy with sexual lust just by being within 15 feet of me? Sign me up.

if we go by the Game Mechanics of White Wolf.

one blood point is spent a day automatically (max 10 for this generation of Vamps)
exerting yourself burns more blood points.
I believe it was if you drain 5 points from a person, they die.

but then consider how many pints of liquid one drinks in a day.

considering that blood will be the ONLY food you eat... yeah, it will be used for calories and other stuff.

another "misty Lackey" explination is that the victim enters a state of euphoria, similar to a massive sexual Orgasm. this serves two purposes.
1) renders the victim 'helpless'. (as seen by their swooning in the Vamps arms)
and
2) the victim won't flee. making feeding easier.

You mean the Count Orlok type of vampire? No, rather not. At least not for her, but maybe for the immortality.

If you mean that other, traditional vampire that you happen to meet when you are heading home after an exceptionally late school lesson, it's october and its getting dark outside early in the afternoon already, and you want to take a shortcut home, over the local cemetary... And then, all of a sudden, this girl pops up, ya know, with looong black hair and ruby lips, sitting on a gravestone, and you're thinking "Nice gothlol outfit, but isn't it a tad bit cold for her in that dress? And she does look pale. Dead pale." And you walk up to her and ask her wether you could give her your jacket, and she makes you that offer? I mean, just writing this has made me fall in love with her :D I think I wouldn't be declining.

this thread reminds me of a game scenario I put together.

the heroes were hired by a 'lost prince' who needed the adventurer's help in overthowing the vampire that took over his father's lands and forced him (as a child) into exile.

the Heroes went forth to slay the vile creature...

only to discover that the people actually liked the vampire in power. the Count realized that by sacrificing certain materialistic needs, he would look favorable to his townspeople.

so taxes were extremely low. the people were encouraged to learn. corrupt officals were fed upon (including corrupt guardsmen.) a lottery of 5 people were given to the vampire to feed (and because it's spread among 5 people, no one dies) and their families are spared taxes for that month, orphans were taken in and raised... and in return, the towns people protected the vampire, who freed them from the previous tyrant.

it was a mind fuck for the players... do they do what they were hired out to do, or do they let the vampire live and continue his reign.

You do NOT ask me this question while I am watching Buffy.

No, and I will kill them. I will first employ a holy symbol and faith to drive them away (yes, I do wear a holy symbol at all times, and my personal religious zeal is pretty damn strong). I will then employ the old adventurer's standby: KILL IT WITH FIRE.

Fire seems to be the most reliable method for killing vampires. Seriously, I don't understand why modern-day vampire hunters don't invest in automatic weapons and WP bullets.

So, a scenario for you - a Vampire of the opposite sex approaches you, offering you to join them in eternal life as a creature of the night. Would you say yes? Or would you say no? Perhaps you would even try to kill them?

I open the floor to madness.

Hmm... I don't like the whole idea of having to kill people to sustain my own existance... call me soft hearted but doing it for any other reason than defense just doesn't appeal to me.

I would be happy to remain mortal because of that primary reason. It wouldn't stop me from trying to pick its mind however, unless I had a sense that she was actually just trying to lure me into a sense of security so I could be an easy target...

While the prospect of eternal life, and enticing women with ease is very appealing. I would still worry about that whole eternal damnation thing, and while I do enjoy the night life it is still nice to enjoy a sunrise once in awhile without turning to dust. I also would worry about those crazy village mobs encited by some random farmer who claims I took her daughter for fun and drink that paints me in a totally unfair light.

I suppose that depends on a few things.

1. Are these vampires of the type that choose to hurt, maim, kill, or otherwise torture people, animals, etc for the sake of "fun"? That is, are they cruel?

2. Are these vampires of the type that can never enjoy any sort of human food? That is, not only do they not get sustenance from it, they become ill from it?

3. Are these vampires otherwise in the sense of being "evil" or can I still be the person I am ("good") while being a vampire?

If the answer to any of those three questions is yes, then no. If the answer to all three questions is no, and I am able to still be who I am, but live immortally, then SIGN ME UP! :D

So, a scenario for you - a Vampire of the opposite sex approaches you, offering you to join them in eternal life as a creature of the night. Would you say yes? Or would you say no? Perhaps you would even try to kill them?

I'd definitely say no. I'm fairly certain that living forever would suck. One couldn't help but become jaded and bored with everything after the first couple of hundred years.

As for trying to kill it, I can't help but think that'd be a bad idea.

They are the servants of Satan? They could be protagonists, sure, even Satan has been a protagonist before; but making them good is just wrong.

depends. are they intelligent?

I can imagine one thinking...
"I piss off the humans... they can kill me. but if I 'befriend' them... maybe even 'care' for them... ;)

Just make sure to take enough time to thoroughly study the subject, I also suspect that a lot of field work will be necessary. If you want to understand this specific subject intensely, you must be willing to go deep.
