Chad. Not only are they violently dysfunctional and brutal to their citizens, but as near as I can tell, there's nothing there worth fighting for, but they fight anyway.

If I were in charge of Zimbabwe or North Korea, that would be fine. Seeming as there's nobody in charge of Somalia or Afghanistan, that wouldn't.

Sudan. It's pretty much the modern day version of a Holiday in Cambodia.

The list for countries that would be crap to live in is pretty big, but from talking to members of other countries, i can say this:

Africa - crap, hence why alot of Afrikaans leave

North Korea - fascist crap, but south koreans are nice

Israel - total crap and spreading misery to the rest of the world

South America - the people who settle down to marriage and kids are okay, the rest live only for parties and drugs and are crap until they grow up, quit the drugs and settle down

Australia and New Zealand - could countries descended from Convicts and Mentally Disabled who were kicked out of Britain be any more crap

America - how crap is a country that sees a need to go into a war every 20-something years [WW1-WW2-Vietnam-Desert Storm-Current War] so its guaranteed that between 2020-2030 USA will send your kids off to die for that new war

Worst means objectively worst. If you don't have to consider things like disease, famine, political repression, war, genocide, slavery, and rampant corruption, you're definitely not talking about the worst country on Earth. All of those exist simultaneously in more than a few places.

For some people, the US might be the worst country out of a given category, but it sure as hell isn't the worst overall. That's just being ignorant of the very real suffering that goes on in many parts of the world and a sign that the person in question has a pretty poor grasp of what it's actually like out there. I highly doubt any of the people who say the US would ever choose Zimbabwe over the United States, or Sudan, or China, or Russia, or any other nation with problems far more severe than those present in the US.

To people who are so used to always having decent food on their table, clean and warm clothes, a warm and dry home, power and tap water, healthcare, good labor conditions, comfortable transportation, etc., that all these things have become to them like ground under their feet; they don't even bother to take into account whether they are present or not.

My favorite images are the ones showing the NK and PRC sides of the border. On the PRC side, you've got all these colorful advertisements, new buildings, cars lining the streets and bright lights shining, and on the NK side everything is decrepit, devoid of humanity and mostly inoperable.

Hell, even the Soviet Union would be a great choice compared to NK, and the former GDR was a veritable paradise in comparison.

You have to remember that less than 2/3 of people around here ever graduate high school, and less than 20% go to college. Almost no one is qualified to do anything at all outside the service industry, so the mall is absolutely essential to the local economy, besides being one of the pillars of the Mexican economy. And besides, would you really want to drive to Montclair Mall? Their crummy little Vitamin World hardly compares, for a start.

I think I'll go with most of Sub Saharan Africa except maybe some of the little countries along the coast (around Cote d'Ivoire) I've heard that some of them are alright if you don't want something horrible to happen to you.
