Carson Palmer Washed Up?

There appears to be a considerable number of people who have come out swinging against Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer, accusing him of "giving up" on the season by overplaying his injured elbow. Never mind the fact that the seriousness of Palmer's elbow is not clear, and that the Bengals haven't won a game this season with or without him. This is a guy who, just two years ago, was accounted amongst the League's elite quarterbacks.

I'm not sure it's fair to blame the entire situation on Palmer, but I could be wrong.

Contrary to popular rumor, I do take pleasure in discussing other things besides politics, Knight. :p

On topic: Youre right. Palmer cant be blamed entirely. Last I checked this was a team game. Besides, ever since 85 started to be more concerned with making headlines than palying, the Bangles havent had the greatest team chemistry.

No, its a problem with the team.

Well, I think the team aspect of the game has disappeared quite a bit. Look at the Patriots for example. They lose their quarterback and everything falls apart for them. They go from Super Bowl contenders to nobodies. Look at the situation in Indy. Manning had a surgery and because of that his team is only 3-2, which is one of their more crappy seasons in recent memory. I do agree that it should be about team sport, but often times these days the QB is the star player and if he fails, everyone else fails.

On another note, I can't be happier to see the Bengals at 0-6... Go STEELERS!!!

The Bungle's demise has more to do with poor management than anything else. I mean, Marvin Lewis runs Chris Henry out of town for being a thug...and Mike Brown brings him back. Way to undermine your coach's authority, Brownie.

'Washed Up' is probably a bit harsh as far as Palmer goes, although with Cinci's o-line Carson Palmer could end up taking a beating that would make even Tim Couch wince. And there has to be a bit of a concern when a QB has a bum arm.

All that being said...I just traded Carson in the NSG fantasy football league. Which means one of two things: He will either bounce back to the rarified air of a top-5 QB, or he will break his leg and miss the balance of the season. There's really no middle ground as far as that goes. :D

The rivalry between Cincinnati and Cleveland is fierce in its' own ways, but every Cleveland fan I've ever talked to agrees with me: We both HATE the Pittsburgh Steelers. ;)
