so i was just thinking...about six months ago the race to the presidency was just between Obama and Hillary....there was no talk virtually at all about mccain let alone the republican party....then all of a sudden McCain has virtually the same chance of getting the presidency "though it might slimmer now!", so is it because of the Hillary supporters rebelling against Obama..or is it because our country cares more about competition than example?

I find that less marijuana helps you clarify your thoughts.

McCain always had a chance. Of course while one primary is going on no one is going to pay attention to the one thats done.

It was going to be Hillary vs Rudy wasn't it?

I think the Hillary supporters that were angry with Obama have started to see the W in WcCain. (which is why Obama's lead in the polls has been increasing)

Well a year ago you didn't hear much about John McCain because all of the other 12 Republicans that were seeking the nomination were basically the same, except of Ron Paul. Hilary and Obama were getting the most media attention between the Dems, so the media basically ruled out that one of them would get the nomination.

Biden got some media attention too. Of course, it was because he supposidly hated black people because he made fun of something Obama said.

Hillary and Obama got all the attention because the Republicans had it all tied up nicely fairly early on. It was McCain. But Obama and Hillary kept duking it out, and so the media got excited about it.

After the early primaries it became apparent that the real contest in the Democratic Primary was between Obama and H. Clinton. On the Republican side, it became more and more apparent that it was going to be McCain. A tight race is exciting and sells papers and gets TV ratings. One candidate totally dominating a primary does not.

Difference between primary season and election season. Republicans closed off the true primaries quickly, whereas dems had them go on and on. Once that was decided, we moved into the actual election season.
