This is no surprise really. McCain and his lackeys have been fanning hate from day one of the election contests. Now that it's clear that they're absolutely incompetent in the actual policy field, they're trying to fan even more hate, now with racist flavor, maybe to the point where it spills out in violence and intimidation come election day.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that at least more than a few in the party hope that the hate fanning will lead to someone seriously attempting to assassinate Obama.

Imagine there were men tossing epithets at female journalists and telling them to go back to the kitchen or anything similar to "sit down, boy" as was said at this black cameraman. Or if they were saying "Kill her" or that she's a "feminazi" or something.

I seriously think we need the Black Panthers out in force on election day.

Aren't they disbanded?

You'd think that if they fan enough hate though, they'd be getting to the point where they can be busted for inciting a riot/crimes. Maybe if we're lucky, arrests of McCain and his lackeys for encouraging assassination attempts on Obama.

But that seems unlikely.

Whatever happens, it's pretty clear that McCain and co is tapping into the long simmering pools of hate and bigotry with their current offensive, and that won't go away now that it's uncorked, especially if Obama wins. I wouldn't be surprised to see more AIP copycats spring up if that happens.

That would make them into martyrs. I know how you feel: I also hope McCain suffers, and hope he suffers like hell, but nothing that would make him a martyr.

They have and it's shameful. We all know some people (even some in this thread) have used epithets describe one or more of the candidates, but that people who wish to rule our nation would strive to prevent such things is abominable.

You'd get the same reaction, honestly. Women are not treated well in our society.

Notice the difference in how leadership deals with it though. Obama hasnt addressed the blatant racism, nor has Biden, or any other democratic leader that I know of.

On the other hand, McCain and Co flipped a shit and cried "sexism" when the media did nothing but point out some of the allegations against Palin.

Well, they cry sexism when it isn't present. Our society tends to ignore it when it actually shows up.

A martyr is one who usually dies in the act. An arrest, followed by a public and humiliating trial, will do far more damage to any cause he championed than if he had just dropped dead tomorrow.

What I meant was this would be spun into "Obama censored us!!1!1!one".

Someone will try; we've feared that since day one. Someone will try. I pray that they don't succeed, but they'll try. If, God forbid, it were to happen, it won't matter much if McCain was in any way connected to it. It's likely to touch off the race war the white supremecists have wanted for two generations.

The fact that if McCain or Palin could be traced to incitement (unlikely; if I understand correctly it'd be a difficult charge to prove) then it would be a cold day in Hell before another Republican got elected to anything would be no consolation.

Someone needs to make those two idiots STFU, and do it now.

Wow.

Larry King Live has three Republican women on. Two of three of them are shredding Palin. They said that the racism and dirty politics are appalling. As they should.

One of the women pointed out that several people on McCain's campaign were kicked off of Reagan's campaign for exactly these kinds of politics. I can't find proof of this, but it is an interesting thing to hear.

Now, of course, I'm sure some would argue that this is just women who are biased. I mean, clearly, Republican women would naturally be biased against Palin. It couldn't have anything to do with the kind of campaign that's being run.

Considering that the thermal energy generated from converting the kinetic energy of a falling wrecking ball, she'll lose a great deal more than her lips if all that energy was dumped in her lipstick.

On the bright side, you will be able to re-enact Hamlet.

Well Palin can see Russia from her house. That right there makes her an expert of identifying terrorists. Her son is in Iraq so he should have no problem sniffing out the baddies and bringing the troops home in time for supper.

The violent rage so bad that three of his OWN party say it makes him unsuited for the Presidency... that's what I'm going to take away from it.

Well that and the $124 billion bail-out. And calling his wife a **** infront of a handful of reporters. And trying to hush-up his wife's drug addiction... and...

There's just too much good stuff in there...
