At first I thought I won the Beechcraft Bonanza. The AOPA has an annual contest of restoring vintage aircraft and having a lottery to see who wins it.

The fact that you don't realize that in many countries throughout this world, they use periods instead of commas to seperate money incriments?

They usually stick to one or the other for separating the triple-zeroes, though.

Really? Ahh....well you learn something new everyday. Most of these e-mails tend to have spelling and grammar mistakes. Which should be a big tip off that it's a scam.

Is that what it was? Gee I should have picked up that is what he was talking about. But they use both, one has the comma then a decimal point and then another decimal point.

Largely latin american and african.
here's an article (http://www.deltatranslator.com/delta/gram_currency.htm) about Brazilian currency that discusses it.
A standard warning for american abroad. If something says it costs like "45.000" they didn't accidentally add a 0, and it costs more than you think.

Yeah, they forgot to ask for your bank account number. No self-respecting scammer would do any less.
By the way, what is your bank account number?

That number looks strange. £2,000.000.00?
What is that? How much is that?
Two? (Over here, we seperate with "," and use "." as a counting aid)
Two thousand? £2,000.00? Then why the other digits?
Two million? £2,000,000.00?
How small can the pound be broken down for them to put 5 slots behind the "."?
Hurdegaryp

I would have written it as £2.000.000,00...

Meh too lazy, and if people fall for these stupid scams, even after all the resources there are out there, telling them that it's a scam.
Well they deserve to have their bank account depleted of funds.

The new thing is they don't ask the first Few Emails. Maybe blame the need for the acct number on a bank failure from what ever recent economic crisis is occurring.
