Is it wrong of me to not pay much heed to complaints of "taking myself to seriously" from the guy who made the Flash animation just so he could rant about people disagreeing with him?

NSG is hardly the place where you've got people agreeing with each other for pages upon pages, NSG is a place where no one seems to be able to agree on ANYTHING, except maybe, just maybe, that LG is god-Emperor of the forums.:tongue:

The overwhelmingly large group of moderate to slightly extreme liberals; the few but overwhelmingly extreme conservatives; and a few sane people in between who get bored and leave. Oh, and the trolls, who go unnoticed because everyone is calling the people who disagree with them trolls.

Why is it that people post half baked, ill thought out, utterly nonsensical propositions, then call me close minded when I point out that they're stupid?

I'm very open minded, I'm always willing to listen to intelligent viewpoints. However, if you have stupid viewpoints, I'm not close minded for calling them stupid.

It just means they're stupid. If you want me to consider your opinion, make sure it's worth my consideration.

No, but sometimes if you do express a different opinion on here then you do get pages upon pages of why the different opinion is wrong.

As for getting some information, Neo's latest thread is an example of how perhaps the original idea of forums is still around. Not that I know if it is the original idea when I joined they had evolved.

Actually, even I can remember useful information that I've got out of this forum. Mainly retro computer games to play and books to read - like We by Yevgeny Zamyatin.

I still disagree that NSG fits into that grouping though. I've seen lots of interesting and rational debates on NSG. You just need to be experienced at reading the forums to find all the interesting stuff and skim through the crap.

For those that think no one learns from NSG, you're wrong. They're the ones that listen into conversations to filter out what they believe and don't believe, get a little info on a topic, then get bored by the (n+1) pages of who is or isn't a troll, and leave. :P

One second, forums are full of judgemental people that get into fights about their opinions and suddenly they're fully of people that only agree with eachother. I mean, NSG is incredibly different from most other forums because the one thing that ties us together is that we disagree, as opposed to comics forums, game forums, band forums, etc.
