What Do You Miss?

I miss In 'n' Out Burger, Coffee Roasters, 42nd Street Bagel and Gottschalks. These are uniquely west coast things not found in Colorado.

If I were in California, I'd miss Three Margaritas, Saltgrass Steakhouse and the Colorado Rockies (even if they didn't make the playoffs this year).

Well, this only happens when I'm in America, but: the regular hamburger at Burger King.

Omnomnom. And on that note, the days when one could go to the shop with £1 and come back with chocolate, crisps, a drink and change.

I miss In 'n' Out Burger

This is the only fast food that has been able to match the recent tastiness of Carl's Jr., and they do it all the time.

Damn you, fat! If only I could eat more In n' Out every day without gaining more of you! :D

I haven't done that in years. Mainly because I don't play football much, given my suckiness at it.

Belgian friteries... British chippys just come no where near.

I would say Belgian chocolates but I recently developed an allergy to coco, so that's right out.

On the other hand I miss Cider (especially Pear Cider) when I'm back in Belgium visiting.

The bay area. My ladyfriend, my friends in the bay area, my family, the bay's thriving underground metal scene, all the fun shit there is to do there, I miss summer. Those are all things I'll see again though, unless I die suddenly. Other things can never be again.

I miss Surge... That was a really good coke. Stupid loud, angry mothers who let their kids drink it and then got angry at Coca Cola because their kids were bouncing off the walls.

So that is what they were talking about when they mention the Surge in Iraq. Doesn't seem like a very good plan to me.

You kidding me? The very reason that the insurgents are staying home is because the children of Iraq are being loud and bouncy, and their mums are a bit tired. Which is why you see militiamen mainly operating at night now - when the kiddies have fallen into a diabetic coma for 6 or 7 hours.

Snow! My parents, my siblings, my hometown... *not* being harassed by my ex... having spare time... my old university... my dog... all my childhood dreams (haha)...

What I miss the very most at this very moment, however, is my bed. It was very warm when we parted this morning. I am now very cold. This is a problem.

Ooooh, agreed about the sushi. Surprisingly, there's no decent sushi where I am, either.

At least compared to Vancouver.

Yeah, there is a mixture of abilities when we play. There are a couple of guys that are pretty good at football but most of us aren't great. But we, the crappier ones, all tend to be rowers and are, therefore, way fitter than the other guys, which tends to even the field a bit.

It does lead to really really long games cause most of us can't shoot very well but can keep on going until we eventually do score.

I used to live in NYC. I miss a transit system that at least wanted to work, even when it failed to. I miss New Yorkers. I miss REAL bagels and bialys, and Polish food, and German food, and Hungarian delis, and pizza, and bread, and beaches that were easy and cheap to get to, and diners where you could sit at a counter and get waiter service that was fast, and people who knew how to walk in a crowd.

I used to live in Vermont. I miss clean air. I miss fresh food. I even miss all that goddamned snow.

Now I live in the metro Boston area. When I move I'll miss the art scene, and my apartment, and fried seafood, especially clams and oysters, and the guy who looks just like Ben Franklin, and Boca Grande taqueria, and Changsho chinese restaurant, and dim sum at China Pearl on weekends when it's most crowded, and the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, just north of the city, and the Japanese restaurants in the Sears Building at Porter Square, and Brattle Books, Boston Antiquarian Booksellers, and MacIntyre & Moore, all used book stores.
