G-Phone

Well the G1 as they're calling it, the new Google phone...

Google co-founder Larry Page, who got to the G1 launch in New York with fellow founder, Sergey Brin, on rollerblades, said: "You always have your phone on you but you do not always have your laptop with you, it is quite difficult to carry it all the time, especially if you are roller-blading ... being able to do a search with all the flexibility that you are used to having on a laptop is really, really worthwhile and we are really excited about it."

Christ, shoot me now. Seriously, is this the angle they came up with?

Personally, I find searching on mobile a frustrating experience because, basically, all I want is a phone number and you rarely come across a phone number on a mobile search. All sorts of useless information that eats up by download time but no frickin' phone number.

Anyway, would you buy one?

Here's (http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2008/sep/23/google.technology) a comparison with the i-Phone.

Only if it's sold at Walmart/Google style prices.

Just kidding, I don't need it anyway - I have Ericsson R310, and don't see why I would possibly need any other phone - that's just what I would expect from it.

I remember that Google bought some frequencies from the FCC a year or two ago. Does anyone know if those were for this phone?
