NS2; It's been corrupted

Earlier this day I received an email; you have been to invited to the Nationstates 2 Bate or something of that vein, and so I merrily punched in the code, made my nation, all was swell and then...
BAM.
Nationstates 2 has introduced something called 'Jennifers'. This is essentially a credit system for enjoying some of the features Nationstates players love (custom flag, endorsements etc). It's a cheap way of grabbing cash.

NS2 people, if you're reading this, feel free to add more advertising. As long as they're not pop-ups, I don't mind. However, you've ruined what made Nationstates fun in the first place; you've made it a horribly complicated sim. That's not what Nationstates is about.
This is one unhappy bunny who's going to be sticking to Nationstates 1 for the forseeable future.

Y'know, you should have a different nickname if you're gonna complain about commercialization.

I'm staying in NS1 because I like it for the RP aspect. Today, the nationstates.net could go down, and it wouldn't affect the actual game to any appreciable extent (except for newcomer flow). NS2 tries to replace it with lame nazionsim.

If you don't like it, I'd be happy to take your place...

I don't get your joke, Vault :(
The NS2 crew haven't worked out that making it cost money has the same effect of making Facebook or Myspace cost money; few people will use it anymore, and the NS2 crew will respond by charging the users even more to cover the costs. They can get around this using the same methods Facebook and Myspace use; make it free, and accept bids for advertising space. They could raise far more than they would through 30 day subsctiprions.

Plus the heads up display is not as simple and quick as it looks.

bate? bait?

or Beta?

either which, I wouldn't have followed that directions without first confirming it on the NS2 forums.

You can still play NS2 for free, which is better than their original plan. You can also pay for those extras if you want, just as they've been saying all along. No big surprises here.

A) We've known since [violet] first broached the subject (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=274376) in April of 2003 that it would be pay-to-play. I fail to see how that is "corrupted".

B) We have a whole forum (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=1554) for discussing NationStates 2. Use it.
