So anyway Nick Clegg just called...

...he says he hates you.*

but seriously I just got an automated call from the man in his irritating accent asking me what I think is the most important followed by a speech based on my answers.

ranting aside I have this hunch that NSG is political so I know you will have some stories to share on shameless political ads/that time you tried to escape the mob

discuss.

I got push-polled for the first time ever earlier this year. I'm sorry to say that I didn't realize what was happening until the caller was pretty far into it, as I was having too much trouble understanding his accent to concentrate on all the sexual innuendos he was reading off about one of the State Senate candidates.

It was bizarre, really. He'd read this long paragraph about how the incumbent voted against war widows or babies or something, but without any tone or inflection whatsoever. I started telling him for every question that it was immoral for someone to even suggest such a thing, and then I asked him a bunch of personal questions. I don't think I achieved my goal of getting him as pissed off as I was, but it made me feel better.

Oh yeah? Ring him back and tell him that I hate him too. I'm fed up with Clegg calling everyone on NSG and badmouthin' me.

Did he tell you that I enjoy the, uh, "company" of animals?

Because he's making that up.

Honestly.

Since I'm registered as unaffiliated, I don't really get bothered. Most of my interaction with politics consists of trolling Lyndon LaRouche supporters with facts and logic.

No way to block them from calling you?

You could make up some crazy issues. And be generally unappreciative if they try to steer you towards the available options...

"Sir, please choose from the listed options."

"But the most important issue for me really is permission to catapult things from my back yard."

Due this enough, or pretend to be a cop investigating your own murder...

"This is Det. Harolds. I'm going to need to ask you to stay on the line so that we can get a trace on this and we'll be sending somebody over to interview you shortly."

"But I was just doing market research..."

"Sir, this is really just a formality, but if you want I can bring you up on charges of obstruction. Your choice, sir."

But we're probably too poor to do it again soon. The downside of not prostituting yourself to big business or the unions :(
