Sounds like a Mayor that has become petty and power hungry and accustomed to getting his way by hook or by crook. I think its time to get voted out and take a permanent vacation.

I can't see how they torpedo'd her company with nothing, why would a web-design company fail because their entire revenue plan hinges on a link to the city police station.

to be fair, the person in question has a grudge against the mayor and looks to me like she is overplaying her hand here. i mean, all she got was a probably unjust cease and desist order, and frankly, she has never made $250k, let alone merely from the inclusion of a link to the police dept on a single website.

I think your looking at it backwards. The Mayor is spending taxpayer money giving orders to a lawyer who bills hundreds of dollars an hour, and starts a criminal investigation against the woman at god knows what cost, all to settle a personal vendetta against a citizen whos rights the Mayor has vowed to uphold and protect, not violate.

Wow, I haven't seen the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel used since my undergrad years (I went to college in the Milwaukee area, go figure).

in my hometown paper we have a thing called 'speak out'. pretty much the greatest feature ever - they publish whatever crazy bullshit people call or write in, occasionally offering sarcastic editorial comments. the local crazies have epic battles on those pages lasting for weeks, and sometimes pretend to be lots of different people who all just happen to use the same stupid terminology and writing styles.

oh, and sometimes legitimate arguments about things are made too, i guess.
