Things I am afraid of...

Other people's bathrooms. (Yes it is true)

The dark, but only when I'm outside.

Things I used to be afraid of...

Fear, loss, hurt, pain - that sort of things.

As for the odder fears:
Once when needing to draw my own blood with a tiny needle I seemed unable to actually do it, despite knowing it would not hurt and not fearing blood at all (hell - I sometimescut myself shaving. I know blood quite well).

Religion taking over the world, making lies the correct way to think.

Oh - and I fear wasps for some reason. I do not know why, I am quite capable of killing them before they sting... and yet I seem to fear them.

I'm afraid of spiders, which made for a very interesting summer. They'd been comfortably established in my apartment before I got there. They weren't comfortable anymore.

I'm also afraid of wasps and other stinging insects, though I have good reason to be so afraid. I rather do like life most days.

im not really afraid of wasps and bees, but bad childhood experiences mean that if one gets in my room i squash it immediatly. spiders go for exactly the same reason.

the only thing that i know im afraid of is falling from heights. its not a fear of height itself, just the image of falling makes me nervous. this makes rock climbing problematic, i love rock climbing, but when im nearer the top i have to really force myself to get higher.
this is also screwed, as i really want to go skydiving

I used to be afraid of spiders, so I learned how to identify which species are harmful, and which species are not. However I think that if I spotted say a brown recluse, or a black widow my action would be to swiftly turn the opposite direction and call every exterminator within 500 miles.

I don't really have any phobias per se, but I do get a little nervous at very high heights, in airplanes, and of course around spiders I don't recognize. If I can identify them, they don't bother me, but wildcards that sneak up on me kind of freak me out. Clowns and those porcelain dolls are on my shit list too, but not enough to really scare me.

I am a bit of a claustrophile, though, so tight spaces don't bother me.

I can handle insects, spiders etc all fine if there's just a few of them, but I have an intense phobia of swarms of anything if they're crawling all over things. I dunno what it is, I suppose it's the sheer unstoppable nature of it, after all they get everywhere and in every thing and you can kill them but they just keep coming... *shudder*

I can only deduce that Hawaiian TP is fundamentally different from German TP, then.

German napkins are usually not "glued" together on the whole surface (like TP), but it's only their margins that are being held together by means of not even glue, but - now this is difficult to explain: Like they have been pressed together between two metal surfaces, where the top surface had little dull spikes and the lower surface little molds?

Bees, wasps, or anything that looks like them.

When I was, say, five years old, I went to a costume party thing as a bee. There's even a video to prove that.

Thigns I am TERRIFIED of:
Thunderstorms
Getting into trouble
Spiderwebs (not actual spiders though...)
Banana spiders (one of the few exceptions to the "not actual spiders though" statement above)
Very loud/sudden noises
Flashing lights (stemming from my fear of storms, and also influenced it greatly)

Things I used to be afraid of:
The dark
Ghosts
Most spiders

I can't even look at a picture of a praying mantis without feeling sick - something about them really creeps me out.

Flying - I'm fine once we're in the air, but take off terrifies me.

I don't like spiders, but as long as they're not near me, I can ignore them.

I really really don't like heights. Well...the idea of falling from them. I'm fine with being high up, but if I get near the edge of a cliff/building/whatever, I think I'm going to fall.

Acrophobia & Belonephobia.

The former especially when walking upstairs and the stairs only consist of mesh or only have the part you're stepping on. Or walking downstairs on tall, open buildings/constructs like the Eiffel Tower. Other than that, I'm fine one I'm "up there", except for slight cases of Vertigo I suffer from ever once in a while.

The latter not so much with injections into muscle tissue. IV injections are worse. Giving a blood sample is pretty bad. Don't even get me started with donating blood. Don't know where it comes from, but feeling the needle inside me gives me week knees to say the least.
Strangely enough, while working as a paramedic I was perfectly fine with giving IVs to other people. Strange that.

Also, Spheksophobia.

There's something about the sound a wasp makes while flying as well as something about their flight pattern that simple makes me nervous. Again, I don't know why. I'm not allergic to their toxin. Their buzzing sound simply makes my hairs stand on end and their erratic flight pattern doesn't help. Bees and bumblebees, even hornets, are fine with me - although I do carry a certain amount of respect for the latter. Don't get me wrong, wasps are interesting insects and I like watching them. From a distance. But should they invade my personal space and comfort zone, they will be obliterated with extreme prejudice.

Going down escalator's? But are you fine about going up them? I have heard people being afraid of going in lifts because the cables might break sending them to their death, or the lift gets stuck and they are stuck in there for a long time but going down escalator's, would you like to explain in more detail, just curious that's all.

I'm not the original poster, but as I have a similar fear, perhaps I can explain.

http://bloompy.wordpress.com/category/tokyo-sendagaya/ This isn't the escalator I first went on that triggered my fear, but it looks pretty similar to me. (It was in some other major Tokyo station. I want to say it was -the- Tokyo station, by which I mean the Shinjuku one, but... I have no idea. There's escalators in the New York subway that do the same thing to me.)

It only really happens to me for really, really big escalators, but--Suddenly I feel frozen, looking down, and feel like I can't control the way in which I'm going down, and start panicking about slipping or being pushed and falling all the way down the escalator, maybe gaining extra momentum from the motion of the steps moving down. It's so bad for me that I'd rather wait for the next train than rush down the escalator with everyone else. I'm afraid someone will accidentally knock me over.

Death.

The dark. Lights are on at all times! If the power fails, candles are hastily lit.

Big black ants. I've been attacked by groups of them a few times (once over 100 at once). But I've had individual ones attack me for nothing, too, and it hurts like hell. At least we don't have fire ants!

Doctors (non-surgeons). I've run into far too many clueless ones and outright nincompoops. If I can fix something myself, I will.

Ladders. I don't trust that they won't tip over or break on me, even if they're the industrial steel kind.

On the other hand, I actually LIKE: Spiders, most insects that aren't ants, heights, escalators, and elevators (lifts). That person you see standing at the edge of a cliff or building? It's probably me.

I am afraid of cicadas. I get short of breath and start to shake even when I see the dead ones on the ground.

I also have an irrational fear of lightning.

being stuck in me or watching them being stuck into other people

no idea why; and in the past several years I've better about it, still don't like it but not outright freaked out by it anymore

On the other hand, if someone wastes half a mill so Good Old Tobias can make you dangle on a garotte you must be fairly important to someone so you should feel good about yourself.

Alright, being a civilian in an area where Hitman's target is, so Hitman isn't after you but your clothing so he can kill his target all stealthy like.

I don't have any that I know of, but I was reading about a woman who had a phobia of wet wood. So, for example, she couldn't eat a popsickle all the way down to the stick, because touching the wet stick would freak her out.

It's funny, and at the same time you have to feel for people that go through life with things like that. The joy of popsickles - tainted! Can't even walk on a porch if it had rained earlier...
