Bring back Multi-quoting!
Barringtonia

It's certainly an odd one, has there really been no response as to why this is,

*checks technical*

EDIT: It's been raised but seemingly no answer yet.

sometimes it is needed though when you are responding to someone who responded to someone else
but people abused it with massive quote bubbles \ games

maybe if they limited to 3 or so it would be good

Multi-quoting is a useful tool when you want to reply to the messages of several people without looking like an overenthousiast spamwhore. It will probably return as a service that will only be available to premium members. And I shouldn't even need to say that you will have to pay a monthly or yearly subscription fee in order to enjoy the privilege of premium membership.

If it worked the way I understand it to have worked then yes, it's a useful tool indeed, but it's hardly essential. Short of OMAC imposing a limit on the number of tags that can be used in a single post there's nothing to stop people just typing the required quote tags manually. This is why this change won't affect me in the slightest, since I always type out my posts in a text editor first (a reaction to the experience of losing posts due to forum malfunctions here and elsewhere), so it's easy for me to be blasé about it.

That's not to say, of course, that removing the function is a good thing... I see no good reason for taking away a simple function that people have been happy to use until now. :)

Bummer! I like MQ. Indeed one of the few things introduced that were really good and made life a little easier.

Please bring it back. (Or I will release SkyNet!)

This is most unfortunate. I very much like multi-quote, especially if I'm returning to a thread after class/sleep/any other absence that's caused me to miss several pages of posts that I wish to reply to.

Allow me to demonstrate.

Just wait and see, I guess. However, if the mods were hoping to put an end to mult-quoting, I'm afraid that's an idle hope. There are other ways to achieve the same result.

Just opening a few more windows in Firefox followed by cutting and pasting the quotes you desire works pretty good as well. Come to think of it, it might even work better for me. It takes a bit more time, but that's neglectable.

Don't attribute to conspiracy what can be adequately explained by stupidity. NS Mods are almost never consulted in advance about changes to Jolt features, and would have opposed this change. Have opposed, in fact.

It's probably either a technical issue with an upgrade, or some Jolt Admin fiddled with settings and accidentally turned it off.

But... I like attributing things to conspiracies! But I guess it's no use. No matter how fast you run, Occam's Razor will cut you down. Sigh.

I've always used it while I'm catching up on a thread. I'll read through the new posts, and just hit the button on each one of those I want to reply to. Once I finish, I then reply, and delete the ones already addressed, or that I can't be bothered with.

You ever want to reply to more than one post without a shitload of copying and pasting, you need the multi-quote. Type for yourself (and with greater care while you're at it).

EDIT: I know it can be done with copy/paste and other methods, but what is the point of developing something that works well that users enjoy and then going backwards?

To be honest, I just recently figured out how to use it. And yeah. It ROCKS. I hope they bring it back!

So, they've taken our multi-quote??? The only reasonable and proportionate way to strike back against this outrage is to steal the left kidney of everyone working for OMAC. If they don't return our multi-quote function within a week, we will proceed to steal their faces and engage in a worldwide identity theft rampage. You've been warned, OMAC.

Oh, how rude of me, I totally forgot one thing in my request to OMAC to bring back MQ:

this sounds exactly like the sort of thing someone who was in on the conspiracy would say to throw us off the track...
