I have seen some of Star Wreck before and just could never get into it, I didn't find it particularly funny.

well,i especially like the battle and Excavators main gun:whenever it is fired all power is gone.

I've seen it on TV. I liked it well enough to watch it till the end. And for an amateur effort it has excellent special effects.

That's easily some of the best production values in any parody I've ever seen. the Finns' sense of humor would need some getting used to, though.

And that was not even a comic parody: in Babylon 5 this class of starship has exactly the same problem ;)

A problem they stole from Live Forever Yamato (anime) and the vaunted Wave Motion Gun.

Also seen in the Invader Zim episode Megadoomer, in which:

A package full of malfunctioning GIR units(Robot assistants) is sent to a successful invader due to switched postal codes. Chaos ensues.

A massive weapon of destruction is sent to the exiled Zim on earth. Batteries not included.

Zim uses a giant extension cord to power the Megadoomer. Which is cloaked. But he isn't.

When firing the Megadoomer's cannon, he causes a massive power outage in the city, thus negating the cloak, and leaving it without power(Without actually firing the weapon, no less). Solution: Self Destruct!

Man, I love this show.

Save that LFY was a Japanese anime from the 70s. Hence, they done it first.

Invader Zim is later than Babylon 5, so I hardly think Seangoli was suggesting B5 "stole" it from Zim rather than LFY. And how sure are you LFY didn't "steal" it from yet some earlier source, or that any of them knew of the others?

Oh, I'm almost certain they did. Post-war Japanese, after all. They steal ideas and improve the living shit out of them.

My point in re-mentioning was that Seangoli's Invader Zim elegy seemed to imply that Zim had originated the idea. I was merely asserting that it hadn't. But hey, thanks anyway. I'm always glad to absorb a bit of undeserved snark for the team.

Behold, geek-war.

Nah. A war is when two or more sides fight. I was merely explaining myself. I couldn't give less of a shit about the particulars.
