Easy Mac?

For some reason, I was debating its epicness with someone a little bit ago, and I say yes, he says no. What does NSG think of Easy Mac?

Easy Mac is excellent.

Macaroni and cheese is that stuff that comes out of your nose when you have flu :)

Whenever I've tried Easy mac, it ends up as a gross sort of cheese soup. This leads me to conclude that it isn't as Easy as the title implies, or it is naturally crap.

Or you're so inept at cooking that you screw up Mac and Cheese.

I honestly had no idea what you were talking about. I thought maybe you were talking about computers made for incompetents or something.

If it comes out of a tin or is microwaveable then you're a cretin who has tortured his palette into a former shadow of itself.

It's a ready meal that comes chilled or frozen then it could be nice, depending on the ingredients they use. Some foods just don't last well.

You know, first I assumed that this thread was about a new Apple computer that could even be used by people who normally are unable to find the "on" switch on the most mundane household appliances. Now I know it's about a food product that makes ramen look like haute cuisine in comparison. Man, the things I learn thanks to NSG!

Edit: looks like I wasn't the only one who had that idea. The Infinite Dunes proved faster than me.

Normal boxed macaroni and cheese isn't that time consuming to me. I have a pyrex dish I use and I microwave it. In eight minutes, I have macaroni and cheese sufficient for a monster meal or two smaller ones. One can of tuna and another of mixed veggies later and I have a quick dirty tuna casserole. Or a can of chili makes Chili-mac. There have been some more exotic combinations I have tried, but it kind of missed the point of quick comfort food to get too elaborate.

While not the "greatest thing ever," it's a quick lunch that I can throw in my bag to prepare at work or between classes (just add water+microwave FTW!), and it doesn't taste too badly, nor is it expensive. So I do give it a thumbs up.

Come to think of it, there are variants of this food product available where I live. Personally I like the version with bolognese sauce best.

It has the word "Mac" in it and it's not a computer -> No way I'm eating this $hit!*

Easy Mac is a sick joke played on poor, lazy college students who have nothing but a microwave, a spoon and access to tap water. It should be a federal crime to produce it or sell it.

Disappointing thread is disappointing. I was full of hopes that this would be about a great new scientific innovation; a raincoat that makes the wearer want to sleep with the person nearest them.

Much like microwave popcorn, I distrust anything whose ingredients are chemically polysyllabic just to get the product to heat well in a radiation chamber. Read the ingredient list on those things. *shudder*

Macaroni and cheese tastes like shit. Macaroni and pasta sauce is awesome. Cheese fondue is awesome. Macaroni and cheese? No. Just, no.

My opinion only.

Microwave popcorn is the greatest invention in the history of mankind, and anyone who doesn't appreciate it is a complete fool who doesn't deserve to enjoy the fruits of dear, dear Mr. Spencer's work.

You can have it all. I'd rather not eat things I can't pronounce when I have a choice.

I used to add diced jalapenos to my Kraft Dinner back in college. You had to add something to get variety.

How does man live without microwave ovens?
Answer: He doesn't, he just dies more slowly than his more severely irradiated fellows.

Don't get me wrong, I like the utility of the machine. I boil water and heat all kinds of stuff in it. But what processing has to happen for food to be convenient can be truly frightening.

Never tasted it, but the smell is enough to put me off. My friend will bring 2-3 packs of it when he comes over (200lb. 14-yr. old) and it stinks up the whole room O.o

Its great but not the greatest... individually wrapped cheese slices are far better.

Regular boxed mac 'n' cheese? Cheap, quick, easy and only marginally disgusting. It'll do when I'm starving, broke and desparate.

No it is not the best thing ever.

I prefer to make it from scratch rather than buying a Kraft Easy Mac box. If I am forced to do make it from a box I will buy Kraft Macaroni cheese deluxe.

Do you mean when he stays the night or something? Or are you talking when he just comes over, that would e funny "Hey man, what you up to mind if I came round?" "No" "Cool I be over in a few minutes then" *id rocks up with 2-3 boxes* "I need to use your stove mate" haha

Easy Mac is the stuff that comes in its own little plastic cup, to which you add water and then microwave. A lot of people seem to be unacquainted with this U.S. college staple of grossness!

Looks like there's room for a ramen thread as well, that other "just add boiling water" food.
