Terrible ad. The secret to Mac/PC ads is its simple, direct and to the point and yet still amusing in its delivery. This ad is rambling and much is overstated and overdone and there does not really seem to be a central point. Is this a shoe store ad? Am i supposed to now want a pair of shoes because Bill Gates likes them? Am i supposed to like a PC over a Mac because Bill Gates has a shoppers card?

The American Express "Seinfeld and Superman" commercials were better:

It's funny, but I don't see how it had anything to do with Microsoft. I'm not particularly inclined to go buy Microsoft products now.

Well, that was... different. Yeah, I think I'll go with that. It was different.

It's still better than those Mac commercials. Good God I want to kick that guy square in the balls...

Yeah I thought it was fine for awhile even though did not really care for it ... each new one is like nails on a chalk board.

They have gone on WAY too long its like if dell still used carrot top in their commercials

Carrot top is, and always will be the worst.

Agreed but those Mac commercials are getting closer for me ... each and every new one

Indeed. Microsoft should read more webcomics ;)

The whiny Bill Gates caricature PC Guy, or the smug date rapist Mac Guy?

I have to ask, how is this in any way supposed to support Microsquash, let alone somehow impugn Apple? The ad just seemed like a fatuous "because we can" kind of thing.

Also, Seinfeld has his rare moments, I'll grant, but on the main, he's just not funny to me.

I saw those Superman & Seinfeld ads linked by Lunatic Goofballs. It really made me want to send a kryptonite credit card to Superman's Fortress of Solitude. I didn't know the man of steel was such a commercial whore!

That was awful, but I would want an edible computer, or couch, or just a cake for right now...

With an edible computer, espionage becomes a lot easier to cover up. :p

Perhaps the government already has these in operation?

That was just stupid, pointless and far too long. Once again, I am forced to wonder: "Why wasn't the cast of Seinfeld quietly herded into an underground bunker at the end of the 90's?"
Hurdegaryp

The risk of a new sitcom spawning in that underground location was just too big. You of all people should understand that.

Bill Gates & Jerry Seinfeld in an advert for Microsoft.

All elements making up this piece except the ones in bold appealed to me.
