For those of you who don't know what Machinima is,it's film which has been shot with video games.I like Machinima,it appeals me as a gamer.I especially like Red Vs Blue,a story about two teams trapped in a canyon with no way in or out.it lasted for five seasons, each season 20 episodes.but,do you like Machinima and if you do which one?

It's mostly shite.

RvB was alright for a bit, but it got very tired in the fourth series.

Some of its funny. My favourite - There was a piss take of the whole Iraq thing via Command and Conquer, but I haven't been able to find it again, as it was on a DVD....I think the guys that do "headshot" etc did it....

I haven't seen any machinima that wouldn't look horrible to me. But that doesn't mean it can't be good, I'm sure that given a good team of programmers, artists, designers and animators it could be great. It's just that such teams prefer the demoscene, i.e. consider making an own engine more flexible than using a game one.

Most machinima I've seen has purely comedic value, and might be good at that (as for many it's easier than drawing a cartoon); when it tries to be serious, so far I haven't seen good results. That doesn't apply to professional animation with game engines, of course.

your talking about game development.Machinima is filmed with finished games.and Reconstruction has a good story. The eight episode has a cool action sequence, equivalent to some action movies.

Yes, I mean, if Machinima is done with artists (textures), designers (3d models), composers, voice actors, programmers (shaders, good scripts), there's lots of potential. Otherwise they're too limited by the game content, so it can have a good humour kick (or maybe even tell a story), but otherwise is less expressive than amateur films.

IIRC I've seen some of RvB, but might check again for some specific eps.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Care to share any pertinent links?
