It does seem that way. He just happened to grab the tranqulizer gun and shoot. Didn't let the professional do it? And the tiger escaped just as Putin showed up?

Wish the television crew got it on film.

Truly, this gives Putin a claim to badassery that few other world leaders can touch. Plus, he tranquilized the tiger instead of killing it, so he shows strength without appearing cruel. It's a story so good that it bears the faint possibility of actually being true.

Not if he didn't kill the tigers. This sort of thing should happen more often, if only to include an interesting extra line in the CIA World Factbook: "Number of Tigers Faced Down by National Leader:"

You could further subdivide that into Metaphorical Tigers and Actual Tigers.

What tranquiliser did they use?

How quickly does it act when injected intramuscularly?

If it was ketamine (often used on cats) it takes longer than 15 seconds to take effect.

15 seconds is a long time when being attacked by a tiger.

It is possible that it was a fast-acting tranquiliser.

A professor and veterinarian speaking on the TV called it "a cute story, but utter rubbish" because it would take between three and five minutes to knock out a tiger - under optimal circumstances. He also said that only a direct hit to the heart would have a chance of stopping a charging tiger.

Clearly this professor is part of the world wide conspiracy to undermine Russia, initiated by Mi6 in response to the alleged polonium poisoning. I'll have you know that polonium is actually a jolly delightful substance that adds a great flavour to your tea, despite the lies that have been spread about it!

Ahhh, satire!

The Russian Prime Minister last night sent a clear message to tigers everywhere not to oppose his policies.
Mr Putin shot the tiger in a disagreement over Russia's regional expansion in the Caucusus. The Tiger was believed to have expressed doubts about the re-establishment of Russian hegemony in former Soviet states, thus provoking the Russian leader to shoot him.

Sen John McCain smelled trouble with Russia's Putin. I would rather have a President John McCain than Obama dealing with Russia.

Who would meet with unfriendly world leaders without preconditions. After preparations with conditions. Please, lol.

McCain supports Georgia as a member of Nato and the EU.

Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Poland and Georgia should all be part of Nato and the EU.

No matter what Putin and Russians think the EU is not a military thread to Russia. In fact Russia, a majority European nation, at times has been thought of as a prospect for EU membership itself. Or at least an associated member through certain negotiated treaties. That would be a good thing for both the EU and Russia.

Current official Nato member nations.

Georgia and the Ukraine are partner nations that should be full Nato members. Even Russia is considered to be a partner nation.

A President John McCain would make one tough bad-ass Comander in Chief.

As well as a honorable decent President. On CNN of all places thier was a democratic strategist who said of John McCain he is an honorable decent man. That said, it still does not mean he supports McCain for president, but at least he said that about John McCain personally. He seemed very sincere about it and not putting on an act. I still do not know the name of this person on CNN. I aluded too in a previous post on another thread, so I cannot provide the name of the democrat person who made the statement.

Even Dona Brazille a democrat who supports Obama said tonight on CNN, she has worked with or knows John McCain said he is a decent honorable man. So I site these sources.

My Job as a supporter of John McCain is to support my candidate to the best of my abilities. Just as it is the job of Obama supporters to support thier candidate and no doubt they do.
