So a lot of shock signings as the Transfer Deadline for English Teams passes, the biggest being Robinho to Manchester City. Who would have thought it? So what are your thoughts football (soccer) fans of NSG?

It somehow doesn't surprise me that we're past the deadline and we still don't know if/where Berbatov has gone. Damn this is dragging on waaaaaay too long...

As a Chelsea fan that lives in Brazil I am extremely happy that Mr arrogance himself has gone somewhere else.

Robinho and the EPL - a match made in hell.

He is the type of player who wants time on the ball to perform his circus tricks and then loses possession (99% of the time). He simply will not have that time in the EPL.

I reckon he has signed for Man United. He was seen leaving Old Trafford a couple of hours ago.

I was at a wine bar the other night with some friends, and someone said 'Chelsea'...as one of us is named thusly, and this bloke down the bar says, 'Chelsea? Chelsea? For or against!?' He was just spoiling for a conversation (or a fight). We were so sorry to disappoint.

We get that all the time here, it does not help that I live 5 miles away from Chelsea's ground.

Robinho will do great in the EPL although there's not much I can do to support that opinion. We shall wait and see.

Damn. Anywhere but Man United. If Tottenham don't get a top price for him, and its basically forced by him wanting to leave I'll be really irritated. I've sadly accepted the fact Berba is 99.9% sure to be leaving, but there'd be some satisfaction at least if the club who played such a big role in unsettling him didn't end up getting their hands on him relatively cheaply against his real value.

Bugger...he has gone to Manure. Grr.

Over 30 million (GBP) for Berbatov!

I don't think that you can complain they ended "up getting their hands on him relatively cheaply against his real value."

Fair enough. Its all very well having money in the bank. But now we're short on quality up front :( Typical, one year we have shocking defence and amazing attack, now the backline is sorted out and we have a mediocre strike-force *facepalm*

Berbatov has gone to United for c.£35m, with Frazier Campbell going the other direction on a season long loan.

Robinho has gone to Man City for c.£32m.

Spurs also picked up Pavlyuchenko.

Corluka's gone from Man City to Spurs for around £12m I think?

George McCartney left West Ham for Sunderland.

Saha's off to Everton.

Those are the biggest ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Americans; what would you think if your favourite NFL team paid $65m to secure the services of a player? Is that more or less than the standard for a top player? Bear in mind that one player (Cristiano Ronaldo) this year could have sold for $140m; ridiculous?

Doesn't seem like Cambridge United managed to nab anyone.

:(

I was hoping for Frank Lampard, sure he's a little on the tubby side but he'd do well in the Conference Premier I think.

An informed source tells me he was in the locality with the intention of signing but tragically he spotted a burger van. By the time he'd finished eating, he didn't have enough time to waddle over to the stadium and sign the contract before the window closed:p

i meant a national team.

The British national men's ice hockey team (also known as Team GB) is the name of the national Ice Hockey Team for the United Kingdom. A founding member of the International Ice Hockey Federation in 1908, the team is controlled by Ice Hockey UK.

The current coach is Paul Thompson.

Seems we do.

The team were a force in the game in the early 20th century, winning the first ever IIHF European Championship, Bronze medalists at the 1924 Winter Olympics in Chamonix, and became Olympic champions in 1936 in Germany.

I remember knowing that we beat the Canadians once due to having to work with some and dying every year the Stanley Cup came around since any input to conversation I had was negligible.

However since then the GB team has made little impact on the sport.

When Wikipedia disses your team you know it's bad :)

You forget the definitive declaration in the early years of the 20th century by the Association That Deals With Such Things that Hockey was no longer to be considered a "sport", but instead as a "Lesser Activity in which Minor Nations Should be Allowed to Win to Give Them an Unjustified Sense of National Pride". Britain, in terms of skill the best country at every sport ever invented, has out of a sense of "fair play" and "giving others a chance" chosen to obey this ruling, allowing inferiors to win.

It seems Newcastle change manager as regularly as they fail to win games.

Man City are certainly looking a decent side this year. As are Middlesborough. Stoke are so terrible it's hilarious to watch their defence.

What a joke, and tomorrow I get to have lunch with two strong Newcastle supporters well I know what that hour is going to involve.

As for transfers Saha to Everton should be good for them and Liverpool getting Albert Riera will be good for Liverpool as thier left wing was lacking, shame to see Steve Finnan go, however, I always liked him.

As for 'Boro looking like a good team, let me point out that they've played a shocking Spurs side, an off-form Liverpool and then just about beat 10-man Stoke. I still expect them to be doing alright come early October, then the wheels will fall off home to Chelsea, away to Blackburn and home to Man City. Who may do alright this season.

That's so true - we always start well, the local press talk of Europe, and then Christmas comes, and we pick up zero points for a month or two.

We will no doubt beat Chelsea, the lose to Hull and go out of the cup against someone like Altrincham

*hates being a Boro fan*
