The "Grow" games

Played 'em? Love 'em? Hate 'em? My brother showed me their main site (I think) http://eyezmaze.com It's sort of a series of guess-and-check puzzle games which have some cool animations in there, games are on the left and I would suggest "Grow v.1" "Grow v.2" "Grow nano vol. 2" "Grow nano vol. 3" or "Grow Ornament" to be your first one, they're the easiest. Personally I can't get enough of these flash games, they're great. Once you get to Grow v.3 or Grow cube, it starts to get really tricky. You click the panels, and stuff appears. The stuff levels up over time, some stuff interacts with other stuff (used VERY strongly in Grow cube.) and once you get all the items to max level you win!

I have to say, that I am a fan of the 'grow' series of games...The first couple I tried I was making the same mistakes over and over, and losing track of the order. I have eventually beaten all of them, but yeah, the more advanced ones can be a chalange (especially while under the influence:wink:)

oh yeah, grow RPG was awesome! Did you see the hidden ending in Grow island? It's freaking hilarious. Look it up online, it's too far from the main path to be able to come upon normally.

Gotta admit, Grow v. 3 took me about an hour *slaps the people that call him slow across the face* It was an hour well wasted

Actually, I got that ending on my own by clicking random choices.

I have actually used a Grow puzzle as a puzzle in a DnD campaign. Ironically, while it was the hardest puzzle to solve, it led to a room full of cursed items.

Also somewhat ironically, the party was infiltrating a large wizard compound and not a one of them was an arcane caster. They freaked out a bit when they saw the room with several hundred spellbooks, but then I reminded them that none of them could use them, and the only people they could sell them to were the people they were stealing them from.

I think that was funny? I prolly woulda gotten it if I had ever played DnD, or read any of the books, or something... I get the feeling it's a dying game, even the super-nerds in my school (the ones that aren't smart but sit around all day playing TCGs) don't play it (to my knowledge.)

Haven't read the books, as I'm sure they're terrible.

But the game's not so dead, actually. They just released a new addition, which I don't particularly care for, but nonetheless represents a new form of DnD. It's a lot like the mechanics of WoW as I understand it (because I don't actually play WoW), except with paper.

And actually, most of the people that play DnD that I know aren't super-nerds. Nerds, sure. But not the kind that you can pick out just by looking while they're walking by.

And no, it wasn't particularly funny, so much as amusing. To put it in not as nerdy terms, it was a room worth several hundred dollars and about as useful as if I had handed everyone a sword that kills everything else it touches...except they couldn't use any of it or sell any of it.

In any case, the attraction to DnD is the incredible freedom it offers. You can literally do anything, because even if the rules as written don't allow it, the guy running the game can choose to disregard the relevant rules. With games like, say, WoW, you can only do what the scripting of the game allows you to do, and there are no exceptions. There is literally absolutely nothing you can possibly think of trying to do that you cannot find a way to do in DnD without unbalancing the game. That, and sometimes it's just fun to play a half-demon (Tiefling, for those who know) warlock whose family are all lawyers. Because really, what defines "lawful/evil" better than "lawyer"?

Yes, but that's not supposed to work. Besides, hacks make the game less fun for everyone because then the one guy gets to change the rules however he wants, and no one is making sure he doesn't disregard the wellbeing of the other players.

Grow RPG sucks and is impossible.

Basically, what you mean is, "I played Grow RPG about 10 times through and gave up, now I'm claiming it's a horrible game because I can't figure it out." Try grow ver. 2 1st
