Crisps

I'm bored. And I've got a packet of crisps. Boring, boring cheese & onion Taytos.
In our vending machine at work, there are two flavours of crisps available : Salt & vinegar, and cheese & onions.

It makes me a little sad, because I know there are Walker's Worcester Sauce flavoured crisps out there, and I remember there were some cheese gratin flavoured ones when I was in Canada...

So let's hear it. Which are the best crisps ever?

McCoy's Cheese & Onion are the best ones currently available.

But the best ones that have ever been available were curry-flavoured Pringles. A God amongst crisps.

That reminds me... I think it was Walkers, they did these poppadum-style speciality crisps for a while. I'd kill for some of those now!

I remember buying some tomatoe ketchup flavoured ones when I was in Canada... I have to admit that I didn't really expect them to be bright tomatoe red. But they tasted yummy.

Probably the same reason that here in the states Coors Beer is brewed with "pure, natural mountain spring water" (direct from the City of Denver Municipal Water Works)...marketing, my son. A magical nexus of psychology, art, and horseshit.

Mexican Chili (http://olddutchfoods.ca/eng/productPop.php?image=images/popups/potato/ripl_chili.jpg) from Old Dutch! Freaking AWESOME! They started making these chips when I was in Junior High and then discontinued them after a few years...we cried, we begged, we petitioned for YEARS and they just brought them back last year. They are like an orgasm in my mouth every time...the very smell takes me back to smoking pot behind the school with Anthony, the hot long-haired BC boy I had a massive crush on but played it cool with because we were best buds. Yeah. Best 'crisps' evah.

Bad Cabra! Cheese and onion tayto are, and will always be the best crisp ever. Sure, you might get enchanted with some upstart newbie claiming excellence, but sooner or later you'll revert back to cheese and onions and when you do, you'll think "Ah, yes, that's what a proper crisp tastes like".

Which are the best crisps? No idea. I've always enjoyed BBQ flavor...I tried 'Paprika' once, too. That was mediocre.

Does anyone remember Doritos 3D? They were grade A amazingness. They did them for some ridiculously brief time when I was in primary school (so probably about ten years ago now) and I've never seen them since. I was only ever aware of the paprika flavour, but they were the best crisps I've ever eaten. I've spent my crisp-life since then in mourning for the ones that got away.

Incidentally, Pringles, whilst delicious, are lies! It is possible to stop once you've popped! Why do they spread such malicious lies?

Simply amazing. Quite popular too...there's only one store in the area that carries them, and they are usually sold out.

I like Lay's salt and vinegar.

They hurt my mouth if I eat too many, but they're yummy. Miss Vicky's salt and vinegar are also good... well, probably better in terms of having a more balanced flavour, but it's not as strong.

Also, ketchup chips are yummy.

I want to try the wasabi chips... I like wasabi so in theory, these should be good or at least interesting.

also: eew @ Pringles

"Crisps" always sound to me like they should be bags full of crunchy fresh apple slices.

My favorite potato chips are pepper kettle-style ones from... I totally forget the name of the brand. I don't eat potato chips very much. I've heard that Canada is the world leader in chip flavors, however, from a completely unobjective and silly source. I'm both intrigued and disgusted by the notion of "all-dressed chips".

Is unobjective really not a word?

This particular silly source agrees that Canada is the world leader in patoto chip flavours. *points at self*

And apparently unobjective IS a real word! Who'd a thunk it? (At least according to dictionary.com)
