So, what books coming out in the near future are you looking forward to?

At the top of my list is Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs. It's the fourth book in the Mercy Thompson series. I've read the first scene (which was included at the end of her most recent book). I will reveal only one spoiler: Mercy Thompson's mom has a pink Glock.

I've just bought the latest Discwolrd novel (after it finally came out as paperback, and I got a Waterstone's voucher for my borthday :D)
After that, I don't know. Possibly the new Salman Rushdie, although I have heard some pretty scathing reviews...

Define "near."

I guess I'm waiting for A Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss, which I believe is supposed to come out in April 2009, and A Memory of Light by Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson... which will be out who knows when.

Jhegaala by Steven Brust. Technically, it's already out but it's taking a damn long time for it to reach my retarded book store and I don't order from them online anymore because they can't ever get a damn order right.

Hey, thanks. I love the Mercy Thompson series, and just finished Iron Kissed.

Pretty much all my other series just recently released a book - I'm picking up By Schism Rent Asunder by David Weber later today.

I'm waiting for the rumored sequel to The Raw Shark Texts. No idea when it's coming out or if there even will be one, but there are some indications there will be.

Jeff Long said he was going to write a sequel to Deeper which would complete The Descent trilogy. There were so many things left dangling after Deeper, not the least of which was how much of the world was blown to Hell.
I've no idea how "near" this rumored book might be, though, as it took him ten damn years after The Descent to write Deeper.

This (and agreed!), the sequel to The DaVinci Code, and whatever Steven King (hopefully) has in the works.

Isn't Robert Jordan dead? Not that it stops Isaac Aasimov from writing the SuperQuiz each day.

Yes, Robert Jordan is unfortunately dead.
But all that he had written for the last book did not die with him.
It will be compiled and "finished/touched up" by his publisher or some other person involved in the process.

The rest of Scott Lynch's Gentleman Bastard sequence (next one Feb 09) and to a lesser extent, the next of Tom Lloyd's Twilight Reign series. Both very good fantasy imho.

I can't think of anything specific I'm looking forward to, but I keep my eyes on Stephen Baxter and Harry Turtledove, to be sure.
