Experimentation?

Suppose your girlfriend (if you're a guy) or boyfriend (if you're a girl) cheats on you with a person of the same gender. If they say that it's just experimentation and ask you to forget it, would you?
My answer: I probably wouldn't forget it and still count it as cheating. I might also ask if I can watch to see if she really thinks that little of me.
I don't really care whether the target of her carnal lust has a penis or a vagina, to be honest.
I fail to see how the gender of the person they cheated you with matters for the classification of it being "cheating" or not. My reaction to the act of cheating would not be influenced by the gender of the third person.
Cheating is cheating regardless of the other person's gender.

Of course not.
If she had asked if she could experiment beforehand it is of course a different story.

Why would the gender of the person he's cheating on me with make a difference?
If it hasn't been cleared in advance, it's cheating.
I mean, if my bf came up to me and said that he wanted to experiment with a guy, I'd at least ask to watch. ;)

My wife and I, in theory, have a different definition of cheating than some married couples.
Cheating is deception. If I were to have sex with another person, man or woman, without her knowledge, that's cheating. On the other hand, if I express an interest to her in having sex with another person besides her and with her consent, do so then that's not cheating. Same goes for her. I say in theory because in the 4 and a half years we've been married, neither of us have had sex with anyone but eachother. But we allow for the possibility of fantasy and experimentation.
As far as cheating goes, my wife has a gun.

Yeah, I'd consider it cheating, but I think I'd be comforted by the fact that it wasn't due to a personal shortcoming.

The experiment counts as cheating on you, that and she didn't bother to even tell you and you had to find out by yourself. And the way she treated lightly as if it doesn't matter.

and if they cheated on you with a member of the opposite gender?
that depends on the circumstances.
not that you can forget it but you can, perhaps, not kick him out for it.
It appears there's a topic NSG has an unanimous opinion on. That's scary.

It's cheating, and a very pathetic excuse for cheating at that.
It is only acceptable if it leads to regular threesomes.

Yeah, that scares me too. I was expecting at least a little debate.

You don't seem to have much of a good relationship with your partner (if you have one) if you don't care if she/he cheats on you so long as you get some sex somewhere down the line.

well... I would ask her for the results of the experimentation... after all, if she told me, then there would be a reason for her telling me.
we would talk about it, how she feels about the 'experimentation', and we would see if that changes our relationship.
would I see it as cheating? yes, but the fact that she admits it to me would be a huge plus for me on how I would feel.

It's not cheating if it's an open relationship and everyone is playing by the rules.

Why would the gender of the other person matter? What if she wanted to experiment with someone who's a different race, or has a different personality, or a different configuration of facial hair?
Why would the gender of the other person matter? it doesn't to me, but the OP stated.

and I'm quite straight, I see myself with a Girlfriend and not a Boyfriend.
What if she wanted to experiment with someone who's a different race, or has a different personality, or a different configuration of facial hair? it won't matter. the points important to me are
1) she told me about it. I would like my relationships to have a level of trust and understanding.
2) it helps foster communication between the two of us. If she felt we were getting in a 'rut' then perhaps we do need to shake things up.
3) if she did 'experiment', I would like to hear what she found out. perhaps she found she has exotic 'tastes' that could enhance our activites.
If she finds that she likes guys with facial hair, then I'll grow a beard. if she found a certain technique works with her, then I'll try to learn that technique, if she wants buff men... well, I'll try to get in shape...
the important thing is to find out each other's wants and needs and try to be as accomidating as possible. a relationship is both give and take. and I hope that my future GF would be just as understanding.

I don't care if my gf has relations with another woman during our relationship. As long as I am the only man in the picture I don't mind. I don't feel threatened by her stepping out with other women occasionally. Now if she sees the same woman repeatedly then I want to be part of that. Because, although her having one night stands with members of the same gender doesn't bother me, a long affair would include emotional attachments which as her bf I get to be part of.

if you don't feel threatened by her having sex with another woman, why would you feel threatened by her having sex with another man? Do you think a penis has magical stealing girlfriend powers that a vagina does not?
