Ok, so I'm having two friends over tomorrow, and I decided that it'd be fun if I rent a really horrible movie (something Sci Fi or Mystery) and the three of us could sit around and make fun of it. Basically we're going to do our own MST3K thing.

FTW. That was hilarious I need to see the rest of it.
Most things with Jean Claude Van Damme contain moments of unintentional comedy gold.
"Soldier of Fortune" with Brandon Lee and Ernest Borgnine is a movie of assinine proportions. Likewise the unfortunate Brandon gets to utter dialogue which will make you dig holes in the fucking furniture in "Showdown in little Tokyo". It also starts Shakespearean stalwart Dolph Lundgren, so you know you're going to see some serious thesbing.
"Showgirls" - the upside is theres boobies aplenty. However thats never been enough for me to sit through the whole thing. The 30-45 minutes I've seen have been utterly dire though, and relatively amusing.

Any such list must include the most juvenile, vomitous mass of human excrement ever to tarnish the surface of a DVD.
This movie is so bad and so disappointing it begs for an MST3K treatment and yet it provides its own humor in its efforts to be taken seriously.
Dungeons & Dragons.
This piece of slimy slop covered trash had every possible advantage when it came out and yet it farted it all away in a fit of mind numbing drivel provided in place of dialog, an utter and complete ripoff of several other movies in an effort to steal from better movies because the writers of this filth were so creatively bankrupt.
The special effects are great until you look at them closely. Dragon blood is apparently chunky, a wave distortion is the universal effect for any spell, and armor is evidently made of plastic.
And if you REALLY want fun, watch the DVD with the director's commentary going in case you have any illusions that this garbage was silly on purpose. Through the entire thing the director pats himself on the back for his wonderful cinematography, action scenes, faithful adherence to the Dungeons & Dragons genre, and all but awards himself an Oscar for Best Picture.
Obviously he's self-delusional if he thinks he succeeded on any of those elements. In fact, I threw up a little in my mouth as I wrote that, despite being satirical.

MST3K is short for Mystery Science Theatre 3000. It was basically an excuse for some very clever guys to point out the idiocies and inanities of movies both good and bad while they were happening, by having their alter-egos "view" the film at the same time as the actual audience and commenting continuously.

And what excatly is a MST3K treatment
Mystery Science Theater 3000 (often abbreviated MST3K, MST 3000, MST 3K, or MST) is an American cult television comedy series created by Joel Hodgson and produced by Best Brains, Inc. that ran from 1988 to 1999.
The series features a man and his robot sidekicks who are trapped on a satellite in space by an evil scientist and forced to watch a selection of terrible movies, especially (but not initially limited to) science fiction B-movies. To keep sane, the man and his robots make a running commentary on the film, making fun of its flaws and wisecracking (or "riffing") their way through the film in the style of a movie theater peanut gallery. Series creator Hodgson originally played the stranded man, Joel Robinson for four-and-a-half seasons. When he left in 1993, series head writer Michael J. Nelson replaced him as new B-movie victim Mike Nelson, and continued in the role for the rest of the show's run.
The format proved to be popular. During its eleven years, 198 episodes and one feature film, MST3K attained a loyal fan base and critical acclaim. The series won a Peabody Award in 1993, and was nominated for writing Emmys in 1994 and 1995.

this (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758754/) begs to be MST3Ked!

Jack Frost was Meant to be retarded...
The funny bit is, there's two movies with the same title and the same subject. One's the retarded family movie about a dad coming back as a snowman, and the other is the retarded straight to DVD horror flick about a serial killer turned into a snowman.
I've always hoped a parent would get them mixed up wanting to check it out for his or her kids.

"quest for fire"
blasphemy!!!!
I recommend the series of patriotic movies called "Why We Fight". While there's the occasional bit of truth in them, there are so many interesting inaccuracies or connections that are only funny now that we're engaged in the war on terror.

this ain't a bad film but i'm still gonna say it:Star Wreck:In the Pirkinning.it's a finnish independent film and it tells a story of James.B Pirk and as you can tell,he's a parody of Kirk.but see for yourself on Starwreck.com:http://www.starwreck.com/introduction.php
The worst film I have ever seen is Sickle.
In The Woods and The Great Spider Invasion are great laughably bad films.
And you have not truly known bad cinema until you have seen Octopus.

It the terror from beyond space! ( 50's mars exploration )
the list could go on for miles.
Or even longer. "IT: The Terror From Beyond Space!" is the exact same storyline as "Alien." True! Do a double feature if you don't believe me. :D (And I liked "IT" better, too.)
Also, "Colossus: The Forbin Project" is the prequel to "Terminator." True! Do another double feature.

Ok, so I'm having two friends over tomorrow, and I decided that it'd be fun if I rent a really horrible movie (something Sci Fi or Mystery) and the three of us could sit around and make fun of it. Basically we're going to do our own MST3K thing.
Any suggestion?
Transformers. The new one. Dear god that was funny.

Cheerleader ninjas. We rented that once for the same reasons you're renting, to make fun of it. We still couldn't finish it, it's so utterly horrible.

Robinson Crusoe on Mars
Lions For Lambs
Any of the Spy Kids movies
Robinson Crusoe on Mars was actually pretty good. A little campy, but nowhere near the absurd levels of true B movie disasters.
I have a couple of old John Wayne serial westerns on DVD. Now THAT'S formulaic cliche material for ya!
I have the Star Wars Holiday Special. The only redeeming feature is the cartoon halfway through. The rest is just painful. My version does come with an MST3K style commentary option, though.

blasphemy!!!!
Seconded!
Quest for Fire was much better than MOST movies... kind of akin to The Gods Must be Crazy since the movie is not about the dialogue.
How about...
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians
Highlander 2
Gigli
or...
Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot ?

I am suprised that no one said "Refer Madness" or
Jeepers Creepers", the worst horror movie ever!
The worst film I have ever seen is Sickle.

Starship... that was worse than Octopus. the SF budget for that film was probably what they found between the couch cushions.

I've got a few suggestions (they're not Sci-Fi or Mystery, per se...but they're definitely "bad"):
1) "Blood Sport" -(Early 1980's) Stars Jean-Claude Van Damme as an American martial artist (...oddly enough, with a Belgian accent...) that's traveled to Hong Kong for an underground, 'anything goes', fighting tournament. "Blood Sport" is the mother of every karate cliche.
2) "Red Dawn" -(Early 1980's, probably) Stars a handful of 'has-been' personalities. Communists (The USSR AND Cuba) launch an assault on the continental United States. When a small town is attacked, some kids escape into the woods and wage guerilla war (calling themselves the Wolverines) against their new-found oppressors. This movie is awesome in every way possible.
any movie can be MST3K'd... the only exception would be this one (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064064/).

Are you out of your mind?!?
Red Dawn is a classic 80's movie, and one of the few movies with subtitles most Americans have seen.
The music was written by the guy that wrote the music for Doctor Zhivago. It's got an embarasment of stars in it. And the plot was an actual going concern of Americans of the era. I actually remember a piece on the news of people discussing the movie and the "what if this actually happened"?
Now yes, it's fictional. Yes, 25 years later it's easy to laugh at the "alternate history" part of it. But at the time it was widely regarded as a much better movie that most (esp. "Invasion USA, First Blood Part 2, or The Last Starfighter). Is it "Amadeus"? No, but then it doesn't pretend to be. :D
Incidentally, there is a new version set for 2010 that's in pre-production right now.

It's just asking for it after the half-way point.
Every M Night Shyamalan movie. Seriously, the guy has this thing with water and a massive failure of basic scientific knowledge related to water. Reference Unbreakable and Signs. Not to mention an overinflated ego which leads him to put himself in every movie.

It's also one of the movies, along with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, that motivated the creation of the PG-13 rating. If you like the 1980's, you've got to see Red Dawn.

Not really a movie, but Star Wars Xmas Special 1978 rates as one of the worst travesties imaginable. I d/l'ed it a couple of years back but have honestly not managed to get all the way through it. Best attempt was just a coupla weeks back where I just randomly skipped to bits throughout up until the end. Total viewing time for me was approx 10 min. That is a record.
It's one redeeming feature is that it's the 1st appearance of Bobba Fett (even if it's in cartoon form).

No, don't be shy NeoB. Tell us how you really feel. Did you like the movie or not?

Actually, it was the FIRST PG-13 movie ever released, and for years was in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most violent movie ever. (The Flamingo Kid was made first, but for whatever reason was released after Red Dawn.)
