Wow. The article says it all:

So, your thoughts? Do you feel for this guy, or is he just being weak? And how well do you react to pressure in your own life? I personally feel bad for the guy...

I feel for him - all that hard work down the drain, as well as the chance to take god-like status in his own country. Perhaps they could just CGI him into the race like they did with some of the fireworks at the opening ceremony

Wow, that's quiet a shame and it mattered to a lot of people :(

I feel sorry for him, his fans and his coach.

That defeats the whole point. He was a legendary runner of brilliant ability and he's lost his chance to prove himself.

Its not that he can't take the pressure, its that hes got an injury. An achilles injury for a hurdler is probably the worst injury he can get. If you're in too much pain to run its got nothing to do with pressure.

Well the thread name made no sense when I saw it, I thought it was gonna be one of those threads where some one asks for advice and help.

Huh? I admit English is not my first language, but is it really only me or does the article say he dropped out due to injury, and not due to "not being able to stand the pressure", as the thread title and OP appear to imply?

ETA: Oughtn't have re-read the article to make sure; now Rubgish got there first ;P

No, you're absolutely correct. It's very early in the morning where I am and this quote fixated my mind: "We really didn't want to give him so much pressure," said fan Hu Cunfang, as she walked out of the stadium.
