Who is the most famous person you know?

IL Ruffino
18-08-2008, 11:19
Because we (I) am interested in knowing.

I myself know hardly anyone. Fail indeed. I suppose there's a few regional famest people I know, uh, yeah.. Not really.

Perhaps I'm the most famous person I know because I was, like, discussed on the local news for photos I've taken.

Whatever.

Impress me.

people i know, i don't really pay any attention to if the're famous or not. i did accidentally step on carrol cherreh's foot once, under circumstances she completely misinterpreted and misrepresents on her website, but i don't think that exactly counts as knowing anyone.

my mother's natural fathers second cousin might have been somehow related to alan kainigsburg, i don't even know how that's spelled, the wood man. then on my dad's side, linear paternal, there was a nathan teal. but that's going back to before there was a u.s., when the brits were fighting the french over it, and the indiginous people sided with the french and the brits brought in hessian mercinaries, which is where he came from.

hmm then there was mrs black, whome in her childhood was known as shirley temple, her and mr guthrie used to eat at lil's in colfax, as did lila pruit for that matter.

someone did mistake ME for richard dryfus once. but i don't think i ever met HIM. that was at a skiffy con too.

i'm tryin to think about who else. i do sort of get arround some times, but i'm not really one for remembering who people are particularly. i know there's a bunch of people i've met in the last ten years at furry cons too. ha, yah, i think max, that writer guy who started this circus might have been one of them, the one furcon i was gophering at, playing door warden at the art show that year. that is if it was him.

i don't know, anyway writers and artists, genre writers and artists, are the people mostly i think about as famous. i guess musicians and actors, well, people make such a big deal about their proffesion, i don't entirely understand why, other then, i guess, a lot of people see their faces on media or at concerts or something.

mr guthrie, not as far as i know related to arlo and woodie's familie, was a retired ceo of some ship line like apl or something, he used to stop and give everybody a ride in his rolls if they were walking along the road and he was goin their way.

can't think of anybody who'se 'famous' today i've had much contact with. maybe a bunch of writers and artists and stuff, who are more famous i suppose within their own genre then to the public at large, and i forget half there names too, mostly again, not that i know anybody all that well either.

i have no idea about anyone famous on here. unless maybe that furry ninja d.j. is arround. i can't claim to know someone i've only met once if at all though. even if i keep finding her on most of the same forums i seem to hang out on.

i can't really feel like i know anyone personally today, other then my wife and some of the members of the local baha'i community, and most of them i only see once in a very rare while either. there's a few people i run into once in a while i've known other times in my life, but none of them particularly famous either.

come to think of it, i guess i must have run into robert zimmerman at a couple of skiffy cons where his mom was one of the guest of the convention.

then there was that back to the future/third rock, darn i forget his name guy, he seemed pretty cool, just met him at a skiffy con too, back in the mid 80s. he was lizardo in buckaroo bonasai in the 8th dimention too. tends to play mad scientist type charicters. john somebody i think his name is.

oh and lila pruit, she's one of the honored elders of the eden valley band of maidu. she and my mom used to talk up a storm.

I knew a guy who was part of The Distillers...I know, I know...hold your applause...yeah...

If knowing the member of a barely national short lived punk band that even I hadn't heard of until he joined doesn't do it for ya, I went to school with a guy who played for the LA Galaxy...that's, uh, MLS...Major League Soccer...yes it's a real league. You want to touch my garments now, don't you. Of course I barely knew him, so now he wouldn't be able to be pick me out of a line up with hints.

Some of the people I used to play with are now professional musicians, but even if you listened to that kind of music it isn't likely you've heard of any of them.

The biggest name is a guy I used to compete against when I was young. He now does it professionally and is among the top in his sport. Which of course no one would or should believe me because this is the internet so saying who will just make me feel like an ass. That guy I met again last year and he barely remembered me, but his dad really remembered me and was kind of awesome.

That's it, musicians you've probably never heard of and athletes you wouldn't care about. And none of them that hang out with me still-and only half who would even recognize me if they saw me. I've met famous people in the course of my work, but not one of them really interacted with me more than absolutely necessary.

I certainly wouldn't say I know Kid Koala, it was just one of the highlights of a particular period, we hung out for a day. That's why I'm ok with sharing it.

It's a downside of fame I think, people can claim things in your name, it can get annoying I suspect.

It's a kind of trap, people are overly-friendly and celebrities have to pretend to be nice when it's not really fair, people expect more than they deserve.

I used to play with Curt Shilling on a virtually unknown Mac only Everquest realm. He has some serious pull at SONY cause he had a character transfered in when transfers were strictly prohibited and had gear the server hadnt even discovered yet. I kicked his ass in a 1v1 GM sponsored tourney event and he whined about it. Good times.

I talk regularly on the phone with Jesus. In case you don't know him, much of the long-time fiction bestseller "the Bible" was loosely (very loosely, he's just told me to add) based upon his life story. He's done very well for himself considering his unusual family background. His father was a thoroughly unpleasant character who had a one-off fling with the mother then fled without paying a dime of child support. He maintains he never had sex with the mother, Mary I think her name was, despite DNA results proving the child was his. I know the father, God, vaguely too. A very arrogant individual, kept claiming he knew everything and that he would harshly punish all those who refused to praise him. Very odd chap. Another fellow I know, name of Nietzsche, told me over drinks that this "God" character was murdered a few years back. I don't like that to happen to anyone, but I don't honestly think he'll be missed.

Warren Haynes (Government Mule and Allman Brothers Band)

You know Warren too? Hell, I might know you too, if you're also from Warren's home town. He's an old friend of my brother's from high school, and they've stayed in touch. I remember his first bands from when he was 11 or 12 and playing charity gigs for the exposure. We never figured on that shaggy chubster with a guitar ever making a name for himself. Just goes to show.

I've taught aerobics classes with Andi MacDowell in them. Worked on movies with Peter Sellers, James Garner, Jodie Foster, Frank Langella, and Macauley Culkin. Sold sound gear to Ron Wood and Rod Stewart. Served on a board of directors with Bob Moog. I've shaken hands with at least 13 state governors and one Vice President (Nelson Rockefeller). I've spoken at length with Marvel Comics' Stan Lee and shared a doobie with Ben Edlund, creator of The Tick (and later, producer of Firefly). I've chatted briefly with Issac Asimov, Leonard Nimoy, John Lee Hooker, Brian Dennehy, and Caroline Rhea. I've driven Mike Krzyzewski and members of the royal family of Qatar to the airport.

Ain't one of them likely to return my calls.

hmmm... I've been in our local newpaper several times... I was quoted on a box for a movie I reviewed for our local magazine (and this was sold nation wide)

I've spoken to our Mayor several years ago. He took my suggestions to heart. (I sold him some books)

I am related to TV Stars, some were on local stations, but others were on major TV productions.

So... I guess I'm the most famous person I know...

Gee... whodathunkit...

Oh, geez, how could I forget. I lived next to Gordon Sumner's summer home for many years. He had dinner at my house a few times. Got tickets to his shows a few times...should get ahold of him, see if he remembers me

I'm related to a well known professional wrestler and through him, I've met many others.
I think we all need to know how your attempts to tackle these men went.

Failing that, I'm related to the Irish version of Donald Trump (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Cullen_(businessman)), though I've never met him, and Irish footballer John O'Flynn (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_O%27Flynn) is on the other side of my cousins' family(I'm related to people related to him).

I like to think I'm a rather minor celebrity on campus, as I occasionally dress up as a pirate, often for little or no reason. Aside from the awesomeness of pirates.

And knew this guy rather well, although I wasn't aware of the sorts of things he was doing (having successfully avoided acquiring a security clearance for 3 years at that point)

I went to high school with Rachel Avery (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1721115/). I've met Alexa McDonough (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexa_McDonough) a couple times, too.

Oh yeah, a few years ago I almost knocked Alice Munro (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_Munro) over at the grocery store. I scowled at her without saying anything; only later did I realize I nearly broke the hip of Canada's most important living writer.
