Anyone excited for the upcoming game sequels?

I thought we had too many political topics so I decided to create an entertainment one. As you all may know, a bunch of sequel games will be released Q4 2008 and some later in 2009. I remember as a kid I grew up with a lot of these series and even though I doubt I'll have much time to enjoy them with university starting in days, I'm still quite excited about their release.

Red Alert 3: Anyone remember the old RA and RA2 from westwood? Seriously, one of my favourite RTS games ever. I think I preferred this to starcraft or anything that blizzard made.

Diablo 3: Ah, the long awaited sequel. Many of my friends and I spend hours playing battle.net back in middle school.

Empire Total War: I've never really played shogun/rome/medieval but I'm a sucker for any game that has Napoleonic warfare in it. The sound of musket volleys firing makes my heart flutter. :)

FF13: Of course, the new FF and it will be out for xbox 360 as well as ps3. What a coup de grace for Sony. XD

I'm sure I missed a few. Feel free to add your own and discuss! :)

As much as I loved RA2, I think I'm much more excited by Empire TW. I always wanted to play that era in the TW engine, and it seems like they added a bunch of new content (ships, overseas, etc.). Why must all these great games come out as I enter college?

E:TW is on my radar. I've been a devoted Total War fan since shogun. I'm really pumped to see what they're going to do with a new engine and new time.

I'm excited about Diablo 3, but I'm also realistic. They already have the WoW expansion going through beta, plus Starcraft 2 which was announced several months ago, plus their still codenamed next-gen MMO. Combine this workload with the fact that Blizzard historically delays releases repeatedly to ensure a quality product, and the realist in me feels like I won't be seeing D3 till like 2011.

Red Alert 3: Anyone remember the old RA and RA2 from westwood? Seriously, one of my favourite RTS games ever. I think I preferred this to starcraft or anything that blizzard made.

Red Alert was probably my favorite game when I was in high school. My buddies and I used to play modem games of RA almost every night during summer break.

RA2 I never really got in to. When it came out I'd been in the Army for about a year and was more interested in drinking and manwhoring around Germany than playing video games. I played it for the first time a while ago and I liked it well enough. I couldn't stand the expansion with the silly 3rd faction, but I'm sure someone out there likes it.

Otherwise I´m feeling rather pessimistic about all the "newfangled" games they pump out.
It feels as if they put way too much emphasis on graphics and as little as possible on gameplay and originality.

I'd hold back on the babies until I was assured they had the AI working (ok you can get more babies, but your arm would knackered). MTW2 had absolutely shite AI, and bugs aplenty.

Nobody is waiting for Fallout 3?

Never played fallout 1 or 2. Also, I was not greatly impressed with the landscapes and general "atmo" of Oblivion. There was a lack of mud, and blood. Compared to the enviroments in a (fairly restricted) 3rd person RPG like "The Witcher" it sucked the balls of the proverbial donkey. As a result, I have a hard time seeing them do a good job of a post-nuke wasteland. I will of course give it a bash regardless, its just that my expectations are not high.

The "enhanced" Version of the Witcher, I greatly look forward to, and any sequels that may follow. You can tell it was done by people who actually wanted to do it, and did so with a good bit of love.

I gave up on waiting for Duke. Personally, I think he's hanging with Godot.

Oh, I don't know. I think they've done a post apocalyptic world decently here. Fallout 1 and 2 are classics of gaming, with a wonderfully ironic sense of humor. Especially easter eggs.

The Joys of PC ownership.....

I got it to work straight off (Win XP, 2 gigs Ram and a 3.4 P-whatever they are) but the cutscenes were lagged to all fuckery. That only changed with the official patches for me at least. Then again, it might have been the fresh blood of a chicken...these things are tempremental. The Euro version was different from the US, I think.

Well, it's not like Bethasda has bad artists or an engine. They just need to get the details right, and here, I think they did a good job of it, given the large amount of preexisting work which they could base it off.

Bleh, isometric games make my head hurt. I still don't get this, "It's betraying the IP of the original game!" stuff when all we know is that they've update the gameplay into something more modern and, imo, much more appealing but the humor and story? Well, I don't see any reason to believe that's changed, at all.

Except for the handheld nuke gun, the Fat Boy. Doesn't mesh well with the setting, leastaways not how it was portrayed in Fallout 1 & 2. But I doubt it'll be as bad as Fallout: POS, er... I mean BOS.

IT's pretty good. Especially for DLC, although it's pretty short. The basic premise is an asteroid heading for a colony, thanks to some Batarian terrorists, and you have to stop it.
