lol wut? (http://www.army-technology.com/projects/baewasp/)

Looks like it would be a great police vehicle in my opinion. The engine and other important parts[for it to be operational] are pretty well protected apperently as well.

Thanks for the website.

As for the WASP can anyone really see large defence forces rushing to place their order forms in?

It could have some potential in urban areas patrolling it but that would be about it.

It is somewhat odd-looking.

It doesn't look like it could hold up to much.

Looks like the mutant offspring of the SEALs DPV/LSV and a Euro truck to me.

You can't go to war in that, you'd look stupid.

One RPG hit and you would have to get some more soldiers.

Since when were cars, even military ones, meant to take RPG rounds and survive?

A Stryker with the slat armor package can take multiple RPG hits.

Just as true of almost any APC and IFV in the world at the moment unless it's one of those crazy T-55 conversions like the IDF and Russians use. From AMX-10P to Warrior, they're all screwed, let's be honest.

The Stryker's slat armour is about 50% effective against older RPG-7 rounds, and is completely useless against tandem-head rounds. It's an improvement over nothing, and is a lot safer for the general public than sticking ERA all over it, but it's not a proper solution.

I'm sure the accompanying dismounts like the lack of ERA as well.

50% chance of living is pretty good, compared to the alternative.

It's not like the Hummer offers excellent protection against RPG's, the Wasp has the advantage that it's a smaller target than the bulky Hummer.

A Stryker is as much a car as a BTR-80 is.

well, isn't the driver also important for it to be operational? I see very little protection for the driver and passengers from medium arms fire. thus I can't even see it in urban use where enemy fire would be coming in from all around.

heavier armor would slow it down, thus removing the speed value of the vehicle

Jungle warfare would be different where the open sides and top will allow for rapid deployment without worrying about doors having to be opened. the smaller size could allow for more maneuverability in tighter areas.

thing looks more like a modified jeep. hope it can live up to it's hype.

techically, a Stryker isn't a 'car'.
