Comedian and Chicago native Bernie Mac died early Saturday morning from complications due to pneumonia, his publicist confirmed.

Mac, 50, had been hospitalized for about a week at Northwestern Hospital, according to his spokeswoman. A few years ago, Mac disclosed that he suffered from sarcoidosis, a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in tissue, most often in the lungs

Rest in peace, Bernie.

Did anyone on here like his work? Are you sad that he's gone now?

Also: If Fass pops up in this thread, please ignore him.

He was reasonably talented. I think his most admirable quality is how long and hard he worked in the business of comedy. He took the hard road to fame. *nod*

Fass is... A guy who thinks that anyone outside of Sweden does not matter, and will actively complain about it, instead of merely leaving the thread.

Well, Sweden's a nice country, so I'm interested to hear what Fass has to say, I guess. :)

I would say "who?" and also "meh, another celebrity death for the celebrity death wank-fest party to spill fake tears over and to use as a play for the gallery in an attempt to feign who can fake the most mock commiseration".

You know, in all likelihood Fass wouldn't have given this thread a second glance, until you specifically mentioned him by name in the opening post.

I love how in your attempt to show how pure you are in not bothering to cry fake tears, you actually expose yourself as being full of shit. Not that this is new or anything, but still entertaining.

I had not heard of Bernie Mac, but then I have no sense of humour and don't watch TV.

Please keep on topic, folks. You'll have Fass later on, and Bernie Mac is only going to die once.

Why is he full of shit? Because he doesn't care about some actor he's never meant, knows nothing of, and feels that people spend time morning the lost of a person manufactured (at least in part) in one of the most shallowest cities in one of the shallowest countries in the world?

If i may, i think the poster *might* be referring to the situation where a poster would deliberately click on something that they purport to be disinteresting and/or unimportant, just to post to people who found it interesting enough to post about that the subject is ACTUALLY not interesting or important.
As in, it was important enough to tell everyone that it's not important.
And some posters, perhaps the one in question, make a habit of it.
If s/he really doesn't care about *whatever*, why go through the disingenuity of acting like it wasn't important enough to post about?
At least, that's my take. I could be wrong.

More the fact that instead of truly showing he didn't give a shit by not leaving a post in the first place, he had to announce it to the world like Blackwell's Annual Worst Dressed List and that it mattered.

And the way he's constantly defended (not to mention how someone was begging for his response on this thread) proves my point that NSG loves Angry Heterophobic Ultranationalists. If Andaras got shot down over his rants, why should this guy be any different?

But back on topic, Bernie Mac was a pretty brilliant man who climbed up from the bottom. Won't be the same without him.

I think his humour was suited to the particular racialised reality of citizens of the US. Which is to say, I didn't find him to be at all humorous.

Meh, not really my cup of tea. That's not to say that I never found him humorous, though I had very little regular exposure to him. Actually, that was not the case very recently, as I have been getting late shifts and coming home at an hour that his show was on (I did not in fact watch it last night, as I was watching Olympic women's saber fencing), which made me actually take notice word of his death. It's sad.

I know next to nothing about the guy, thus I have no real opinon on his abillity as a comedian, so I can only say that his death is a tragedy, and I wish for the best for his friends and familly.
