Your Region or Alliance [dot] NationState?

I might start a home business soon by being an independent registrar for some domains related to the NationStates game: .ns1, .ns2 and .nationstate. That way your regions or alliances' off-site forums or pages can finally have a good gTLD. I've put my opinions to the ICANN public site, which can be seen here (http://public.icann.org/en/node/1162). I think the liberalization of gTLDs is going to be great.

What do you think? Should I add more?

What exactly are your obligations as a registrar?

given that Nationstates is a trademark, do you need/have permission to use it?

I'd run it by Max. In fact, I'll point this thread out to him.

How do you expect us to know that when you're being so subtle?

[violet] manages the game. Max Barry owns it. Ownership and legality questions get addressed to Max.

Does that address your trick question completely?

I wonder if Max is super rich.

It's all about my image. If I come across as a total idiot then maybe I'll get the truth out of pity.

first of all, i don't think TLD liberalisation is a good thing - i feel it will cause more confusion than it will solve. and second, isn't getting that accepted by ICANN going to cost a small fortune to you? last i heard, even after the new rules are in place, for the next few years only large corporations will be able to afford this shit.

Information for budding registrars: http://www.icann.org/registrars

There are some other gTLDs I am considering to registrar, such as:
.vnat (virtual nation)
.myworld
.person
.who
.history

Let's beat the corporations, should we?
