I really hope you didn't combine any of those things, or an interviewer could be opening a sticky envelope soon.

If I were you, I'd keep that to yourself. At least until after they've eaten.

It's twice as much fun to tell them mid-bite...

"Hey guys...so...I got frustrated and shredded my application and mixed it into the sauce"

I went outside of my room, leading to all sorts of comic capers. Two elderly women stopped me whilst I was innocently perambulating across the university campus. In my naivety, I presumed they'd be asking for directions. They told me they wanted to talk about the environment, poverty, war and whether its possible to be optimistic about the future in our uncertain world. I thought "ok, they're probably from a charity, but its an interesting topic so I'll hear them out". Cue five minutes of very low-quality analysis of the multitude of faults in the world.

I'm about to say my goodbyes, thinking that they must be nothing more than a couple of nice but slightly eccentric ladies of a certain age whose mental functions are perhaps not as they once were. Then they suddenly started talking about how the world was soon going to end, but that this was good and the meek would inherit the Earth. What the....? Soon they are manically quoting seemingly random passages from the Bible at me. They were Jehovah's witnesses! They'd talked for nearly five whole minutes to me before I realised. This is why I like NSG. No matter how crap an argument I post, I can never reach the level of epic fail that I inevitably suffer as soon as I go outside.

Edit: This discussion has been far more mature than I expected. Several pages in and no-one's replied "your mom"?

I once again tried my experiment to see if I could fall asleep while listening to my iPod on a low volume. For the 4th time I realised I can't, therefore this experiment has a 100% fail rate.

With all seriousness, I can fall asleep with my MP3 player on half volume. It helped me learn "The Raven"

Hell yeah, I once used lectures from a class I did, the lecturer had one of those monotonus boring voices which put you to sleep, hence why I had to listen to the lectures again.

It would put me to sleep at night, and I would like to think that it was part of the reason why I managed to get a HD for the topic.

Ach. Those voices don't put me to sleep, they annoy me. Every time I heard one of my 7th grade teachers speak, I'd feel like ripping my hair out and stuffing it in my ears.

Captain Jack?

Who's this Captain Jack? Am I missing something?

BTW, what I REALLY did was rotate my tires and look at a used Ford Bronco. It only had a 302, but I have a 400 that's just waiting for something to hold it. 4-wheel drive, ground clearance, and power are rather helpful for about 4 months each year here.

My daughter plays Vampire. She's active on the White Wolf Forums. Do you, perhaps, frequent them? If so, she's Calliope.

As for my forumless activities, I cleaned the bathrooms and the kitchen, made soup, read, groomed a severely matted cat (I will have scars) and paid bills.
