Well, as much as I disagree with culture mixing, at least the asians can be tolerated, because as much as they force a part of their culture into ours, at least they have the good additions of hard work and regard for laws, that other races (including the ever-retarded Wigger sub-culture) do not

culture mixing isn't just in the asian culture. I beleive if anything Caucasian american citizens are the largest percentage of culture mixing you can find. Let's start with white boys trying to act gangster and trying to adapt themselves to a "blacker" style. After stepping past that note. you have to look at the incredible population of crazed white fan boys and girls obsessed with the anime and manga culture. I don't know if it's taken to quite an extreme as dying skin colors but I beleive the white american population is responsible for far more culture blendingthen the asian populace could ever be.

It is interesting to note that Asians are the most likely to be married to someone of another race, at least in the US, the rate is around 50%. Furthermore, its a great thing that Asians want to be like us, at least from a social harmony standpoint, I strongly support people who take the effort to assimilate.

To me, an American, nothing's more normal and American than Asian features. Because I grew up in a community that was mostly Asian. Your post seems to imply that America is the Land of Boring White People, and while that may be true where you live, where I live I'm a minority, and most of the people my age are living the "American" lifestyle--which means dying their hair different colors, buying designer bags and sunglasses, etc.

People should be whatever they want to be and whatever they think is attractive. I think some styles like ganguro are dead ugly, but that's not my scene, it's theirs. Me, I always wanted to be Asian like my friends growing up, but I don't think that reflected self-hate or a "follower" mentality--it was just the norm around me and I thought it was beautiful.

I don't know. If I were Asian and dumb (or just average), I'd find that this would get old fast.

This is why I love being in LA and really enjoyed where I went to college. I've found that Asian women are the best to date. They've got great food, good values and are beautiful. Obviously this isn't always the case but I've been very lucky so far.

I recently brought this up with a Japanese friend of mine after I saw the eye surgery thing in some asian magazines. He thought it was perfectly normal while I argued it seemed extreme and weird. He didn't understand until I said, "It would be like me getting surgary to have asian looking eyes!" From his speechlessness, I gathered that the thought disturbed him.

Actually asians do want to be "white" to a certain extent but its not what you think.

Historically it was the nobility that did not have to work and thus did not get tans. As a result, its cultural among asians that "white" skin is more beautiful.

Similarly large eyes is actually regarded as good luck and pretty. This is much harder to explain but I believe it stems from Buddist beliefs.

In conclusion, I suppose you could say that Asians want to be "white" but its actually more cultural. Most asians perfer larger eyes and pale skin because of cultural and historical traditions rather then because of some strange desire to change their race. :)

That's the same world-over. In Europe tans used to mean you were involved in outdoor manual labour, and thus of the peasant class - hence the nobility using make-up to make themselves appear very white.
However, when industrialisation kicked in, there was the massive exodus from farm to city. End result was anyone in an office job was white and pasty, and so looked 'upper class'.
With the advent of plane travel, this allowed the ultra-wealthy to now spend their time jet-setting around Europe. Thus having a tan now indicated you were so wealthy you could afford to spend your days lazing about on the Riveria. This is where the West is now.
In Asia, they're still getting past the labour-intensive farming, tan=peasantry, level. Give them another few years and they'll be where the West is.

i'd say asians ARE "white", as if there was such a thing, but as far as why they market to white dominated nations and cultures, especially gear their visual story telling to this market, is simply because it IS the most lucrative market for such products.
