i'm talking about modern platforms.not old ones for example the commodore 64.i personally prefer the playstation 3 or the pc.i also think that the Wii sucks!i have seen better graphics on the Playstation 2!last generation!yeah, the control-system is nice and innovative, you play it for a while but then you get bored of it and wish you had bought an Xbox 360.what do YOU think?what is the best platform?

The point of the Wii is not the graphics. As far as graphics go nothing beats the real world, so every game platform sucks by that standard.
I prefer PC games; and graphics is really the least of my interests (although a PC can do pretty darn well in that area if you upgrade your video card regularly.) Of course the best game platform is pretty old, it's the brain; nothing like playing mind games ;)

PC. Consoles are slowly closing the gap but PCs are still better.

PC's are best for gaming since you can switch all the old parts for new ones when the need arises.

A history of "Which gaming platform is the best".

Amiga/Atari/Neo Geo/"Future console"
NES/SNES/Nintendo 64/Gamecube/Wii/"Future console"
Sega Master System/Sega Mega Drive/Sega Saturn/Sega Dreamcast/"Future console"
Playstation/Playstation 2/Playstation 3/"Future console"
Xbox/Xbox 360/"Future console"
(Mac? heh..buahaha)
PC

There is no "best." There are, however, superior platforms. The PC is probably the highest on the list due to the sheer ability of it to customize games in ways no other console can, but the simple fact is that games just go well where they go. Some genres belong on consoles like the PS3, others on the PC, and so on.

Well, really it seems hard to determine which console in this generation is the best overall because there seems to be very little overlap with each one. PS3 and Xbox 360 cater to the same crowd (in most cases) and have the same types of games (for the most part), but then Wii and PC are pretty vastly different. It seems like with this generation of platforms the only reasonable comparison is between Xbox 360 and PS3.

Unfortunately, I can't add anything relevant to that discussion since I have neither of the two. ;)

I bought an xbox 360 'cause I liked their controllers way better.

for me its a close call between the Wii and the 360. the former is innovative, exciting, fun to play, doesn't matter about graphics, and is more than a games console (thinking of Wii Fit here). the latter is also fun, etc, but it has better graphics and is, again, more than a games console as it has become my centre of home entertainment.

so its quite close, but if we break it back to games, i've probably played more games, and enjoyed them more, on the 360. so that gets my vote

PC games feel inaccessible once you're out of the clique, and my PC is now nearly entirely dedicated to work/graphics/web stuff anyway (despite having pretty kickass specs for a laptop...)

PC, because you can pirate any game and play it for free while you have to buy disks for Xbox, Ps3, wii, etc. :)

Pfft. The Xbox 360 is only saved by Halo and Gears of War. The Wii is pure unadulterated awesomeness. Graphics are not the point of the Wii, it's the innovation of the Wii remote. Aiming, swimming, rowing, hitting, it all makes it worth the low graphics.

However, the Wii will not last forever, Nintendo will come out with a new console sometime. Therefore, the longest lasting gaming platform will be the PC, but the current best is the Wii. *Dreams about a PC compatable with the Wii remote*

The PC. For one thing, it has less vocal arseholes in multiplayer than the XBox360 (you Americans ought to punch your children more or something, seriously, getting called a faggot for 10 minutes and then being told that, as an Englishman, I get bossed about by the queen is just stupid).

Also, you can keep them updated, do your shopping on them and play games which weren't designed for overexcited 13-year-olds *coughs* Halo 3 *coughs*.

The Wii is quite fun, mind.

The PC in theory, but it's really not practical for me to continually upgrade my system to keep pace with the system requirements of newer games. Others may be able to do this, but I can't, so I play most of my games on the 360.

*shudders* Don't remind me, I canceled my Xbox Live after playing Halo 3 once online.

For experience, the Wii, nice innovative, and games that don't end with a number (lookin' at you Sony and Microsoft)

But the PC is an old standby, gotta love that *insert color* box of awesome.

Aye well the games might not all end in a number, but 90% of them are collections of minigames, and 80% of those have "Mario" somewhere in the title :p

PS3 is overpriced and has virtually no good games.

Virtually all the good X360 games come for the PC as well.

That leaves Wii and PC, and I'm voting for PC because it's capable of a bunch of other stuff too (e.g. NSG).

combine the graphical power of a PC, 360's games, PS3's MGS4 and blu ray, and the Wii's Smash Bros and controller, and you get the best (and most expensive)console ever.

I was brought up on Nintendo games, so I swear by the Wii. PC gaming and the 360 generally don't really interest me as I'm not in to first person shooters or most of the other games those platforms attract, but the PS3 I would kind of like to get for Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, both of which look like amazing games, and Ratchet & Clank is right up my alley as I'm a big fan of 3D platformers.

A Linux box running /usr/local/bin/dosbox (for Son of Tetris and maybe HHGTG) and /usr/local/bin/zsnes (for mario and zelda).

It'll also run nethack, which completes the universe.

Hmm..Personally the PC is best for RTS, the 360 for shooters/action/racers and the Wii for sheer entertainment. I haven't had much experience with a PS3 so can't really comment.

However I am so buying Rock Band!

You could still play if you were born that late, my younger cousin had one and he was born in 89, but kept it for years and the woman who lives across the road from me who runs a childminding business still keeps one for the kids and she's had it for years apparently.
