NSG Inspiring Movements

All of us posters here know that NSGeneral is brilliant and awesome. But did you know that one of our greatest threads has inspired the American Cancer Society Cancer Network? Well, it has. Don't believe me? See for yourself!

Or just go to the page:
http://action.acscan.org/site/DocServer/FDA_ChooseWisely_FINAL_07.09.08.pdf?docID=8381
They aren't the only ones, though. It seems the Alzheimer Society also took inspiration:

So, what now that NSG is changing, and I barely recognize it anymore. (And for all the hubbub I've heard about the smilie changes, I must say I quite like our new eyerolling smilie. Also, sweet jesus, I might have to smart posting more now that we finally have a blushing smilie!!!!) So, what were/are your favorite threads? What makes a great thread? Does any one know the record for thread most quickly derailed? Who creates the best threads?

It has gone to its final resting place. It had been moved to the Spam forum. And apparently when our new overlords began their rule, they deleted everything in the Spam forum. I can only hope it has moved on to a better place. Also, that the deletion of such crucial threads means that there will never again be a Jolt Database Error, and that they have not been deleted in vain.

What thread created the choose wisely thing?
It was a thread all its own, created by Peechland, iirc. Maybe Tweet. I'm not sure. The thread was created and moved to Spam before I officially joing The Spam Fam. It was, however, Epic.
It has gone so far that not even the most dedicated of thread necromancers can revive it....I issue a challenge for someone to revive it! I will shower you in cookies
It was Peechland.
'tis a sad, sad day....

Best thread, you say?
Sheesh, that's a tough one. Any number of social threads I can remember over the years, really. It's a shame that there hasn't been a really good one for some time now.

I remember that thread before it was in spam. Unfortunately, I never posted in it before it moved because I had no idea how to work the forum account.
As for best thread, I really don't know. Spam sorta blurs together.

Choose wisely was a line from Indianna Jones. When they met the really old man in a cave with a bunch of gobblets and had to choose the one that brought imortality.

I'm still partial to the Post of Death thread.
And the Generalite Invasion Rout one, just as a historical document.
Both gone. :(
