Here's the trailer for Oliver Stone's W.

Think it'll be any good?

If I were Stone I would have waited at least a year after W is out of office. It just looks political now, regardless of it's content.

Hopefully though it shows Dubya's part in the foreign oil operation in his early years which saw locals run off their land and murdered.

The bad thing about this movie is that it's hindsight isn't going to be that great, if he could have waited till Bush was out of office then he would have been able to do the 'downfall' part.

What downfall?

It wouldn't matter if he had a 90% approval rating, come January 4th he would still cease to be President of the United States

So Oliver Stone has once again re-written history in his own image and put it on film, so what else is new.

It will be as bad as Nixon, Alexandar and The Reagans and as factually accurate as JFK.

you realize that there is no proof of that right?

And for your first point, I would like to note that this is an entirely political film.

Past performance, JFK, Nixon etc. Why wouldn' he wait until after? because people who know G.W. Bush are still alive. far more that those who knew JFK and Nixon personally.

Jan. 20th, actually. Every single day that goes by with him still occupying the White House will probably feel more unbearable as the end gets near.

It's not about the looks.

Would you sit through a two hour movie of perfect look-a-likes who couldn't act for shit?

He's quite a good actor, so why not?

Michael Sheen played Blair in a number of different dramatisations, including the excellent (though at times inaccurate) The Deal.

If it's anything like Nixon (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113987/)...no.

Nixon actually had a good Anthony Hopkins performance trapped in a middling script and horribly overblown direction. (Plus the most hackneyed visual symbolism ever. Look, they're talking about the death toll in Vietnam and now there's a shot of an excessively bloody steak! That's, like, <toke> so deep, man...) I don't know how Oliver Stone continues to get great actors for his movies considering that all his recent projects have been expensive blah. He might help to make some great films if he just assembled the cast, came up with the concept, and then found somebody better to write & direct.

That said, the trailer looks kind of interesting, and if I hadn't been burned by Stone so many times, I would consider going to see the movie. But you know what they say, five times burned, six times shy.

Condi, Rumsfeld and Cheney all look pretty good. Not Forest-Whitaker-as-Idi-Amin good, but solid.

Also irrelevant. You need actors, not look-alikes. The two are seldom the same person.

Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney -- I like it, especially after his role in The American President (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0112346/). I think Thandie Newton (yummy!) as Condi Rice might work -- she's an excellent actress -- but they must have had to darken her complexion quite a bit. Ellen Burstyn works as Babsy Bush at least on the surface. We'll just have to see how good these actors really are. Intriguing.

Does that really matter all that much? Can the guy ACT like Blair is the better question. If he can, your mind will dismiss the incongruity in the resemblance.

That said, the Fantastic Four movies weren't exactly encouraging on that front. At least James Cromwell (playing Bush, Sr.) has the skill to pull that role off.

I hated World Trade Center, which is his only movie I've seen. It was melodramatic, loaded with heavy-handed symbolism. I may see this, but I don't expect it to be good. If anything, it'll seem so bad it'll cause sympathy votes for the Republicans.

It wasn't banned. It wasn't released in THEATERS willingly by Oliver Stone because of pressure from anti-Castro Cuban Americans. Speaking of which, I just ordered a copy off of Amazon. *Hopes it is good*
