What should I do in Toronto???

I've spontaneously decided to spend a weekend in Toronto. No firm dates yet, except that I have a deadline of September 6 to see "Evil Dead the Musical," and I have other plans the weekend of August 9. I may go as soon as this Friday, or wait until September. Either way, I'll be there soon!!

(Yes, I've already checked and tickets for my show are available. Hooray!!)

So, who knows the town? What else should I do while I'm there? Where is the best place to eat (bearing in mind I'm vegetarian)? Grab a drink? Catch live music?

Also, if anyone is around and wants to meet up for lunch, dinner, a drink or whatever... I'm down. :)

Thanks!!

EDIT: "Vegetarian," in my terms, includes the possibility of fish. Especially sushi!!

Scamper around town naked. As long as you can avoid being caught in the act, you can be long gone before the police track you down. :)

Well, there's the Royal Ontario Museum. There's also Niagra Falls, The CN Tower, the usual tourist hotspots.

this is nothing more than a senseless plan to get some Canadian isn't it :p

I say you spend the whole time either in the hotel spa or having the cooks make you food, alternatively you could organize an NS international meet seeing as how Canada is like halfway

do the mash

the monster mash?

Leave ;)Damn, why so down on Toronto? I mean, really???

Constructive advice is most appreciated. Hockey Hall of Fame is an option. Niagara? Been there, done that. As for a baseball game, the idea is attractive but remember that I'm only there for a few days... and a baseball game really kills a LOT of time that I could be... well, drinking. Drinking at cheaper than ballpark rates. ;)

Alas, I'm afraid I don't stay at the sort of hotels that are likely to have a spa. Or room service. In fact, my top choices are unlikely to go by the name "hotel" at all. I think "hostel" is the usual term. :)

Queen St. W is your best spot for nightlife. I don't know Toronto's restaurants all that well, but you could probably find some good/funky eateries in Kensington market. There'll definitely be something vegetarian-friendly. Good place to soak up some atmosphere, too, much more fun than the tourist strip on Yonge St.

You're on your own for live music. There's lots, but I don't know the scene at all.

I've heard it's brilliant.
If ol' Brucie Campbell sings in the show it could well be the greatest artistic achievement ever undertaken by humanity.

And Evil Dead II is one of the greatest films ever made.

I live very close to Toronto. I'm in Boston from August 1st-9th though. If you come after that I could take you to some really neat local spots.

Fresh is a really good vegetarian restaurant. It has three locations in the city. 326 Bloor Street West in the Annex, 894 Queen Street West (at Crawford) and 147 Spadina Avenue (just south of Queen).

I'm assuming you like music.Check out Sonic Boom(512 Bloor St W) or Soundscapes (572 College St)

Check out the Moonbean Cafe in Kensington Market, this place makes me happy because they are totally earthy, green and stuff (30 St Andrew St)

The Central is where my photography meetup group goes to hang out. It's located at 603 Markham Street in the annex.

If you like jazz or blues. The Rex has live jazz and blues on Saturday and Sunday afternoons (194 Queen Street West)

Some of the touristy stuff is overrated, but maybe it's just because I take it for granted. It's fun to check out the local spots though. If you are in the city around when I get home from Boston, hit me a message and we'll see if I can play tour guide.
