My monitor died today. It was three months out of warranty, so I had to buy a new one. I went from an LG Flatron wide screen to a Hannspree.

Usually monitors last a long time - you go through two or three towers before the monitor finally becomes toast. My daughter has a cheap Compaq that came with her computer; it's been moved across country, rained on and dropped and it's still working fine - it's outlived 3 towers and is working on the fourth. The LG wasn't even 15 months old and was in the same place from the time I set it up. LGs are supposed to be top of the line, too.

So, does anyone know anything about Hanspree?

Used to have one. Was not impressed, I'm sorry to say - maintenance hog, died after only two years.

My Samsung I replaced it with has been much superior.

I have also become a believer in Samsung ... 4 of them for me and 20 something for machines I built for others over the last 6 years ... not one has died yet or had any even minor issue

Have not worked with Hanspree ... am kind of surprised though have only had a few LG monitors with computers I have built and they seemed fine but I have more experience with LG's smaller electronic devices which always have worked great for me

15 months? My desktop has had the same monitor since 1998.

I've had 4 monitors in 8 years, but only one exploded on me. The other one suddenly lost color and couldn't be fixed without replacing the tube. Number 3 was replaced with an upgrade and cannibalized for parts.
