After a relatively successful season last year as Commish, I return in hopes that my league management skills are intact. On to my main points:

--I know, some are you are saying it's too early, but at least that gives more time for more people to sign up. Last year we had 10 participants, let's go for 12 this year. I put the cap at 16 teams.

--I propose we continue with the same rules set up as last year, which can be found here (http://archive.fantasysports.yahoo.com/nfl/2007/465264/settings).

--The draft will be preferably live, on an agreed-upon date to be determined.

--Anyone interested in joining the league should TG me for the password.

--It is free, and prizeless, sans the bragging rights.

Any further queries are welcome. Oh, and Go Eagles.

If it's any consolation, in the league I'm in this year, I've lost four straight weeks, including a shut-out two weeks ago, and I've tumbled from 2nd to 10th, and out of play-off contention unless I get real lucky in August.

Pass defense is what we need to improve, and we drafted some very good pass blockers this year.

We've got the best run defense in the NFL, record setting defensive ends, and a good mix of of veterans and rookies.

Huh?? Pass blockers are normally offensive linemen - how are they going to help your pass defense?

We've got the best run defense in the NFL, record setting defensive ends, and a good mix of of veterans and rookies.

All well and good, but the question was "Apart from Peterson, who do the Vikings have?", not - which unit of the Vikings has some respectability. OK - so you lose 13 - 0 instead of 27 - 0.

Defense wins championships - yes, but offense wins games. Where is the Vikings offense?

That sucks. I only root for people to fail when it ensures my success, so I hope you turn it around.

I've had a rough go of it myself this year in most of my leagues (I'm in too many, about 10, I need to cut it down to a manageable number next year). I drafted the same damn pitchers in most of them...Smoltz, Gallardo, Liriano, Rich Hill, often on the same team, so I've been fighting uphill all year. I've started to turn it around in the last month or so though, so a top-3 finish is still possible in most of my leagues.

Depends who he landed with. But no, I wouldn't. Apart from last season he hasn't been that good for years. And anyone he does land with haven't got an established passing game, new system, probably miss training camp. The warning signs just pile up.

So we've now got 8 solid players for the league. But we'd like 16, so if anyone out there is still considering doing this, do it. Naow.

Also, if you're worried about not being good, fear not - it's not really that hard and pretty easy to pick up. Also, there are a whole bunch of other nubs in the league.

I'm in a league where a guy drafted all Jets. Every one of his spots is occupied by a Jet. The only non-NYJ player he has is the Bears' defense, although he has the Jets' D as well.

I, of course, drafted Favre in the last round, so I'm laughing my ass off that I have his QB. He can rock out with Kellen Clemens & Chad Pennington to his heart's content.

I'd offer him a trade...but his roster is full of Jets...I don't really want any...

The draft date is set for 22 August, I believe...it shouldn't be in a few hours, it was pushed back...if you're going by the info in the OP, or an earlier post, please be advised that the Commish (Fleckenstein) pushed the draft date back to 22 August (I think it's 22 Aug, give or take a day).

And if you can't make the live draft, you can always pre-rank players just a bit above their initial value, which gives you a better shot at getting them. I've actually drafted some of my better teams by letting the computer do the work...I'm not there to F it up, lol...

Oh, and I think Harrison is a better value, because McNasty is still going a bit too high IMO, while Marvin's value has fallen...beware of Peyton's health, though, that's the true wild card...

Oh, and let me state for the record that Joseph Addai is NOT a viable fantasy running back.

Someone else in the league agrees with me, though I forget who.

That's because, if he had 4 more yards last year, I would've been in the playoffs.

Of course, I didn't have him on my team last year. However, the fact that the Colts were so good that game that he hardly ran at all makes him tainted. I will never, ever draft him. Or pick him up as a FA. EVER. XD

Anyway, I'm solidly in the playoffs this year, so all is fair right now.

I've had a pretty good stretch the last couple of months; I have a shot at the playoffs (and a 7-7 record) after starting 0-6. But if I make the playoffs I'll be surprised if I last too long. I don't have the horses.

Commish seems to be guy to beat. Lots of pretty, fast horses. Damn those people who actually showed up to the draft! How dare they! :D

Maybe if I beat Commish this week in the regular season finale, I'll feel a bit better about my playoff chances. And the great (and shitty) thing about H2H playoffs is, CRAZY SHIT HAPPENS IN THE PLAYOFFS!

I'll be happy to put 2008 behind me, though. It was a disappointing year all-around for me in fantasy sports. Still fun, though.

The playoffs aren't about what players you have, they're about who those players are facing.

You can have a great lineup, but if they're all playing tough games, then someone who's roster is playing pushovers can easily beat you.

When I won two years ago, I was the fifth seed, so you can never be sure of anything. ;)

Aye. Playing in week 17, when a lot of players hardly even play, makes it a bit unpredictable as well.

Have I recently mentioned my contempt for Braylon Edwards? I'd like to take that opportunity at this time.

Friggin' Michigander.

Unfortunately, I wasn't there on draft day, as I would've chosen AP over LT.

Alphabeticism, 'course. -_-

Victory!

Score one for the Brits over the colonials. That was for the tea at Boston! :)
