For those in manufacturing jobs

So, for those of you who work in manufacturing, whether it's out on the floor putting the parts together, or making the parts, or if you're a manager of the factory. How worried are ya'll that you're going to lose your job when they ship the factory over to either China or India?

I ask, because even now the USA seems to be losing it's manufacturing division of it's economy due to outsourcing. I have some friends who work at these jobs, and I wonder how much longer they're going to have them. That's why some people, like my dad and a few others that I know are getting out of their manufacturing jobs and into jobs that can't be outsourced.

So, for those who have manufacturing jobs, how worried are you that your job will be outsourced?

Our blue collar economy is screwed unless the government makes it more cost effective to have manufacturing IN the country than outsourcing. But that would go against your sig.

Thankfully Fuel prices however have caused some companies to think twice about outsourcing.

Shite? Are your friends Polish Muslims? ;)

Seriously, yes it's a "shite" job, but going on welfare is worse.

I'm not too worried about it, as I live in one of the few states (Alabama) that is currently gaining manufacturing jobs instead of losing them. People have realized that paying a union worker $25/hour is kinda odd when people in the same country will do the job for $14/hour and be quite happy to do so, never mind the union. We've built 5 or 6 big auto plants since Mercedes moved to Vance in the 90's. Hyundai, Toyota, Nissan, all build here, and Kia's building a 2 Billion plant on the state line, along with Volkswagen building a billion dollar plant in South Tennessee.

As far as American Manufacturing as a whole, I believe that at some point within the next 12 years, we will have a nationalist president (doesn't matter which party), that will re-establish some form of tariff, and restore a form of protectionism to American manufacturing. And then when that happens, we're off to the races, as all the money we invested in nowherei-stan comes home.

There are plenty of foreign based manufacturing jobs being created in the US. Everyone is freaking out because those dipshits in Detroit can't read market trends and are closing plants but Volkswagen, Honda, Toyota, et all are doing fine and are opening US plants, like VW literally just did. And I believe Airbus plans to as well.

Thankfully Fuel prices however have caused some companies to think twice about outsourcing.
I don't know what companies those are.

This is just one symptom of the decay in capitalist production.

Important question - were manufacturing robots to turn on their puny human masters, would it count as class war?
