Really? You must have insanely high standards. Although I will admit that the storyline is the same almost every single time.

well if its insane to think that no black doctor is going to let anyone say racist things to him or that no doctor anywhere is going to commit burglary, or that in modern hospitals the nurses and techs run all the tests so that the doctors can do doctor work, yeah i guess im nutz.

Foreman is constantly having outbursts against racism in the series, I don't know where you are getting this "no black doctor is going to let..." from. And when does anyone commit burglary?

Summary of a House episode:

Patient comes in with problem.
House acts like a dick to everyone.
Problem gets misdiagnosed several times.
Problem gets discovered as some extremely obscure or unlikely or rare disease or condition.
Problem solved.

Yea, but any TV shows can be broken down like that. Take L&O.

A crime is committed
They Investigate crime
Go down several wrong leads
Find the perp
Lawyers prepare for court
Court is held
Jury delivers decision

Just because it does follow a formula doesn't mean it's not entertaining.

I watched the first season or so then got bored of them magically finding a cure for every idiot who walks in with the rinse and repeat side stories

course I would watch if they started using these super detective skills to say travel the galaxy in search of the cure to piss shivers or fighting the joker

There is no show outside of Hugh Laurie. The other characters are only there to create situations in which he can demonstrate his brilliance.

the rest of the acting SUCKS. omar epps is OK but i find all the other doctors completely unbelievable as doctors. they try to sell the stupid lines and the stupid things that they do but... well maybe NO actor is good enough to make those things believable.

hugh laurie is amazing though. he does make his lines and the insane things they have him do work. he is brilliant.

they are going to have to do SOMETHING to make the scripts work better. now that every possible diagnosis has been done and there are only so many more odd illnesses to be found in obscure medical journals, its going to be hard to have the medical mystery carry the show.

Well, it's not Firefly (but then, what is), but it's better than practically anything else.

So... it's okay.

(In other words, it's not that good that I'd actually watch it on TV - because I almost never watch anything on TV - but my wife has two seasons of it on DVD, and I don't mind it).

"nuh uh" says Sparkelle "it has been years since ER ended and the idea to make a comedy doctor show was bree-yant. The idea for house was to shift the main character on scrubs from JD to Dr.Cox, keeping his personality the same and get gid of the humour and replace it with blood and nasty things"

My favorite thing about the show is they very often use real life diseases/conditions and treatments for them. Notably (Well, notable to me, since they are the only ones that effect me) was House's ketamine treatment at the beginning of one of the seasons that fixed his leg for a short while and the occasional mention of RSD/CRPS as possible conditions. Excessively rare, but it's nice hearing that at least someone else scourged the internet for a random disease (that I randomly have :D).

Hugh Laurie as House is a god of brilliant snarky sexiness.

Also, I was completely baffled by the comment that the writing was bad until I read further and discovered that people meant the writing was unrealistic. Well, duh! It's a TV show. Improbably exciting things happen to improbably pretty people on TV shows, because no one really wants to watch middle-aged, overweight doctors sit around treating several dozen cases of strep throat. In other news, very few princes swear revenge on their uncles for killing their fathers by pouring poison in their ears, and those that do probably just kill their uncles instead of agonizing about it dramatically for days. Clearly, Hamlet has bad writing. http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u275/Gravlen/NSG/Smilies%20and%20animated%20stuff/1129.gif

It's definitely my favourite show ever. I have all of the DVDs and write a lot of the technical entries for the House Wiki. I actually have a countdown on my Facebook profile to the day that the new season begins, and I refuse to do anything when House is on except watch House. I only watch three things on television -- House, Pushing Daisies and The Venture Bros -- and House is the one I absolutely obsess over.

It still catches me off guard. He and cfrom her role in Fight Club. Both actors managed to get the American accent perfectly. Carter even said that "Cancer" is one of the hardest words to get right because of the number of small differences, yet both nail it.
