Having just been chatting about this subject on another thread, I felt I should share with you my opinion on the sexes. And I think women are superior to men.

Mainly, It's because the women i've met tend to have a better memory, and of course as we all know, women can do two things at once. But what do you think? Let's reveiw the pros and cons of man and woman.

However, I think men are better, because of the increase in variability due to the y chromosome. This leads there to be more geniuses among men, as opposed to women, and therefore, men are more likely to come up with solutions to the biggest technological, and scientific problems that we are presented with.

Neither. Women are on average better a certain verbal tasks and men are, on average, better a aspects of spatial reasoning, this difference is however, small. Also, let us not forget there is far far far more individual variation within any gender than there is between the genders. So I'd say on overall equal. Each gender has it's general strengths and weaknesses but frankly the immense individual variability means that this becomes meaningless unless you are only looking at overall population trends.

But let us not forget, with the increased variability there is also the downside that males are also more likely to experience the lower end too, with increased chances of certain mental and hereditary disorders. Autism being the classic example.

yes, I know how variability works out, as well as the susceptibility of males to things such as color blindness due to having one "X".

However, these are easily balanced by the massive amounts of good that progress in the sciences and engineering has provided (not that only men were involved, but it was, and will probably continue to be the case, that men make up a majority in these fields).

The harm done, by various retarded or otherwise incapable men, is limited in scope to what resources they can consume in their lifetimes, and as such have no lasting legacy.

In my experiance that is not true, they can drive fine. They have some problems with parking, but the driving, top notch.

I really don't mean to be insulting to you or anyone here, but that's just what I think of this whole battle of the sexes thing. It could vary depending on the people you know, for example, in an Amazon-type society, you'd say women, and in a patriarchal society, you'd say men. But if you took the average of all the men in the world and all the women, they'd be pretty much on equal footing. To refute (slightly) two of your examples, I have a scary long memory (sometimes) and my dad is constantly multitasking (And I'm sure he isn't a transsexual)

They are good for domestic work and sex. That's all.

Men, because at the current moment men have to dominant voice in our culture and hence allow us to define what "better" means.

It is a strange argument to watch sometimes as to debate what is consider a better trait. Being myself I certain would never give in my problem solving skills and single minded focus for multitasking and the ability to pick up details.

And since I wanted to make a sexist comment to match that of the OP, I will agree that I certainly heard more women complain with every single details of the story than it is men. Where as men tends to swear a lot and talks about the kind of things they want to do to the person, while not really telling the story at all. Another thing is that while men seems to get piss off more often, women tends to get piss off longer.

Ok, so women have periods, which are messy, painful (for some) and can cause unstable mood disorders.

But there are three very distinct advantages that outweigh even the nastiest period pains:

1. Women can get sex whenever they want - they alone hold the purse strings when it comes to sex. Yes, men can get sex whenever they want also, but only by paying an average of £150 per hour for it.

2. Women don't suffer from impotence (floppy cock disorder) - again meaning they can have sex (or at least a satisfying wank session) whenever they like.

3. Women can have multiple orgasms. IMO, this one beats everything hands down.

This is why I say it's biased towards the men. All of the question that the females ask the guys are just so obscured, that not even female would know them. I think one time I had a question about fashion in the 1800's. Who's the Hell is going to know that? Meanwhile, the women get questions that has to do with what actually happened in the past 30 years.

3. Women don't tend to externalize their anger. Ie they'd rather beat themselves up them hurt those around them.

4. Women are naturally more cuddly and cuddleable.

5. Women have more nerves to feel more pleasure during sex

7. You don't see women devaluing and attacking the ways in scholaristic achievement the way men do. Ie men suck at homework but are great at tests, for instance.

8. Women don't steal the credit for important Nobel Prizes, like the stuff about DNA!

Women are sneakier. I have refereed men's and women's basketball games. Men tend to make hard fouls. Women tend to make mean fouls. In one thing they are the same, though: they protest and claim innocence when you call their fouls ;)

Also I think women tend to plot their enemies demise while men tend to slap them in the face.

Whether that makes women better or worse than men depends on your own set of values ;)

1. Debatable. Yes, you have more female forensic psychologists than males, but I think that's just representative of the gender bias in psychology. When you come to average women, I tend to come across just as many who believe they should be locked up and throw away the key, more so in relation to sex offences (but then women are usually victims of this)

2 and 3. Yes, true, although women aren't immune to it - see Myra Hindley. Women also commit less murders, less violent crimes and less crimes generally. However, the violence they do commit tends to be against friends/family and recent research has indicated that women are as likely to use domestic violence as men (and not just in self-defence) but this is less likley to cause serious injury. Also women use almost as much aggression but it tends to be more verbal/social than physical, although psychologically this can still cause considerable harm.

4. Well it's all the curves... I certainly like cuddling them :D

5. Multiple orgasms FTW. Although arguably it's also takes a bit more skill/effort to achieve said pleasure.

6. Yet women consistently receive better marks/qualifications. Arguably although true for a long time, I don't think that's actually the case any more. The debate as to pure cognitive ability still rages but generally I think they've found more variability in males but similar average levels.

7. Oh, I don't know, have you heard a good feminist rant recently? It's just because male ranters tend to have better PR.

8. If there was more women in sciences, I bet you anything we'd start seeing that happening with women too.

Women are no angels, we can as stupid, bigoted, vicious and nasty as men, we just tend to do it in different (generally more social) ways.
