I feel safer already

A local gun store was robbed over the weekend. For the third time in three years. You would think being robbed once per year would encourage them to put in good security system. Apparently not, I guess they thought the very presence of guns would detour criminals by themselves. I know I feel safer with 30+ unsecured and unaccounted for weapons ranging from 9mm's to "assault rifles" (according to the guy who runs the place) on the streets.

I think the presence of people who are willing to break and enter into someone else's property is itself more frightening than the fact that sometimes they also have guns.

You should try DC then. No gun stores, and the majority of firearms found on criminals in the city are direct from the DC Police armory.

The DC police handgun is the number one murder weapon in DC, in the hands of a non-policeman.

Or, you might be tempted to feel good about the FBI, who manage to lose several hundred fully automatic submachineguns and pistols every year, merely by leaving them in the trunk.

A gun store near me was almost robbed a while ago. The guy kicked down the door holding a pistol and said "Put er' up!" The fifteen or so shoppers and employees all pointed their own heavy weapons at the guy. Needless to say, he gave up without a fight.

Judging by the look of it, a glorified chicken coop.

Link to the story, please? Also, just because they've been robbed 3 times in 3 years doesn't mean they have no security. Hoffman's Gun Center (here in CT) was robbed this past year, and it was despite having bars on the windows and doors, as well as an alarm and surveillance system (the criminals rammed a truck through the front of the store). IIRC, the police were on the scene within 3 minutes (Hoffman's is on a heavily patrolled road, and I believe there's a police barracks nearby), but the criminals still got away.

Can anyone else smell insurance scam?

1. Pretend store gets robbed, claim insurance
2. Sell 'stolen' weapons on the black market or to people who would not usually be able to buy weapons legally.

Store makes double the profit!

The FBI loses or has stolen at least one firearm every month. It has also lost or had stolen dozens of laptop computers that contained sensitive or classified information. I know I feel safer with hundreds of unsecured and unaccounted for weapons ranging from 9mm's to "assault rifles" (according to the DOJ) on the streets.

One would think that after decades of this occurring, stricter security measures would be introduced.
